Dif C-Class IP's For Dif Sites Or Not ?

Howdy everyone,
I've been reading some stuff about people who have alot of sites,
spreading them over numerous hosts with different C-Class IP addresses,
for seo purposes.

I was wondering if this is only done if your linking up your own sites, or is it also good for your own sites and otheres who you recip links with?
Say you link to 2 dif sites, but they are on the same IP address, but do it from 2 of your own sites which are on different C-class IP's. Would this have a better effect ?

Also how many sites are you comfortable with having on the same c-class IP / host ?

and

Is it worth buying a fresh reseller account for the purpose of getting this new c-class IP, or is it ok just buy a basic hosting package?

All comments welcome.
Nice one

when people spread out sites on different c-classes they usually intend to link them together. But being paranoid and knowing google has access to your whois it could probably eventually notice that they are all owned by the same person even though they are spread out. that may sound a little extreme, but personally i would rather take the time and slowly build up links to high quality sites over time rather then trying to do these blackhat seo techniques.

you could buy a few resellers and spread your sites out for the purpose of not having all your eggs in one basket. so if one hosting company has a lot of downtime you still have your other sites pulling in traffic.

you can have as many sites as you want on the same IP, it doesn't really matter. if your on shared hosting then you take the chance of being on the same server as a spammer which could make your IP look bad. 99% of the time its ok, but you still run that 1% risk. If your on a dedicated and it's only your sites on there it's all good.

Hi,
Many Thanks for your reply and I see your point with regards to linking up my own sites.
How about though from a link partners point of view, if they wanted to trade links with a few of my sites, wouldn't it be better if they were on a few different IP's ?

I know nothing about blackhat seo, what blackhat methods would I have to be doing with regards to this, to get on the wrong side of the search engines ?

Yeah I was thinking of getting some different resellers and building other links to each site over time But was just wondering about linking my own sites and dif IP's.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.
Let me know on the above.

Thanks,
Brian

HostGator do something called seohosting and it looks like you can host your sites and pick how many different C-Class Ip's you want.

But as Jmart said above, an se will check your registrar info to ?
Surely, they will, they aint that dumb.

Just my thoughts, an interesting topic and something else to consider nevertheless.

To answer your question:

Yes, it would be better to have your sites on different C classes if you goal is trading links with other sites.

While I'd take your 2 links from 2 sites on the same IP, I would MUCH rather that they were on different IPs.

It is also beneficial not to use the same namservers for all your domains.
