has anyone used the flash video format for videos on a paysite? what does it do to member retention and/or bandwith charges.

I dont not own a paysite. But I can tell you you will use more bandwidth with Flash. But it is a no brainer for videos since the Flash Player market penetration is about 98%. Meaning pretty much everyone has Flash

it doesn't seem that many paysites use this method though. i have to believe there is a reason for that. i am wondering if you would piss off members since the videos would no longer be downloadable.

the flash server adjunction to apply the flash media server to your site is prohibitively high unless you are major.... it's an obvious step into the future of what our sites will become... I am starting now by converting all or our tour previews to flash. the New CS3 updates allows for easy intergration, but not a full emmersion to your site looking the way that it should. I am still using action script 2.0 to supply my new tour with a look that works... CS3.. I will work out as it comes... along with action script 3.0....

I guess i wil have to say that it's still not ready for members area as of yet....
