Email advertising yes/no? - GoFuckYourself.com

Basically i have just aquired over 10k emails from an adult-content related forum.
I plan to use them to advertise a site, when i get one sorted.

Anyone here ever advertised by email?
Was it worth doing, or will i be wasting my time?

Many affiliate programs discourage people from sending emails. Others simply limit it by only allowing members to send to those who signed up for it in the first place. Personally, I would avoid it.

I have a plain email list, not attached to anything, i planned to send out emails manually using a mass email script.

There would be no indication that it was coming from the site, it will just be provided a link to a site saying how good it is etc..

I am thinking about not doing it anyway, its effectivly spam, i myself hate spam so i cant imagine anyone else likes it.

Yeah, that's illegal. Even though you may never get prosecuted by US law enforcement, your webhost can certainly shut your account down. Happens all the time.

I am from the UK.
I actually have my own "paid for" dedicated server.
I have it colocated with a friend.
It's ok though, i dont intend to send emails, i was just interested to know what peoples opinions were.
