gallery from tabbed data string?
how are most gallery submitters building galleries?
are you hand making then one at a time? do you use the cvs dump strings? do the gallery submitter scripts make sense of the data strings that you can get from your sponsors and generate galleries from a tempate? Are you guys actually hand building your galleries one thumbnail, link, description at a time? That seems like a lot of work? Ive been working on some software that automates it but don't want to reinvent the wheel... how about a sound off on how you build galleries Thanks |

Im not talking about managing galleries.
Just making the tables with the pictures. Im yet to see a script that says dump your data strings here. Where is this wheel you mentioned? L |

i guess i'm not clear on what you're asking for. i can't think of a data string that a sponsor would give you for "building" a gallery. it's usually like a CSV file of galleries that already exist that they host. if you wanted to build your own galleries, then you'd just get content from them and edit it yourself to fit your design, and there are programs/shortcuts for that as well.
so maybe you're on to something

Yes
thats what im talking about, they are for hosted galleries...
how do people use those csv files, do they just copy and paste each little bit of info into a template? I'm paying to have some software built, not because i want to, but because I cant find anything that does automates the task. |

So does anybody even use these?
Does anyone use the hosted gallery export tools at all?
Sound off if you use the hosted gallery tools, the ones that export in the Tab separated Data Dump? Anyone? If not, why is is apart of a lot of sponsors gallery/marketing tools? |

I started to answer but after rereading your post, im not sure what you are talking about anymore.
Galleries export so that people running TGPS can import the data into their scripts. And theres plenty of said scripts, they just import the file and hit enter and it propegates their tgp with the galleries. Instead of combing through 20 thousand of them.

its realy not that technical
im talking about the html or text data strings.
Like: thumbnail image link (tab) link to gallery (tab) description (tab) more data... you can export these hosted gallery strings from many sponsors, but it seems like no knows what im talking about. maybe its a secret.... |

no we know what you're talking about but i think you might be mixing up how that data is used - or maybe you do but might be wording it wierd
those data strings are usually used to feed a bunch of existing galleries, hosted by the sponsor who supplied them, to a site like a TGP. whether it's your own TGP, or another TGP, you could dump all that info at once instead of having to copy/paste each piece of onformation. you wouldn't use a file like that to build your own galleries at all

I have a custom gallery importer I use. It basically is web based, you paste the CSV in one text area, document transformations in the 2nd, and line by line data in the next. It basically allows you to quickly import a diverse amount of CSV data from different programs into an internal database of promo content. That information can then be indexed by model(s), tags, site, and other attributes. From there a TGP/free site can pull data from it and I can control what data gets sent to which free site in the backend admin.

One of the common problems of CSV data from some of the big programs is that they have like 20 entries for 1 scene. You can't manually filter it out and drastically inflates your database with useless galleries.
Programs that use NATS gallery exporter plugin tend to do this a lot. I spoke with a developer there at Internext and they said they would look into the issue. Hopefully there will be a way to key it so there is only 1 gallery per scene (or 1 photo, 1 movie ideally). |

these CSV files usually have info like: [url to gallery], [number or images], [description], [url of one thumbnail]...etc but to make a gallery, you'd need like [image 1], [image 1 thumbnai]l, [image 2], [image 2 thumbnail].....and so forth like that. and now that i think of it, there are scripts out there that could pull that info and rebuld it into a new gallery, called "fuskers" that were all the rage not too long ago.
