:stoned How much is your site worth?

There is the nifty little tool I found over at the digitalpoint forums. Its called DNScoop and its a website with a dot com at the end of it. I can't post a link cuz I'm still just a newb here. But if you got there you can get an apprasial of your domain name and your traffic's value. You should check it out, you're site could be worth more than you think. One of mine was worth over $15k, seriously no BS.

Anyway thought you guys might enjoy this tool.

peace out

These type of automated tools are rarely ever really that accurate. In fact, I ran a test on one of my own domains to see if it was off and it was on something very very very important and that was my inclusion in Google, when on the website I checked I happened to be number one in Google for a few keywords.

No automated tool can ever really be really accurate because there are always so many unforeseen factors such as the quality of traffic. I have one site with traffic that performs with a 1:64. There is no way that service can possibly know the high quality of my traffic and as such can't estimate the value of my domain based on it.

It also tells me to that "one way to increase your site's value is to monetize it, and utilize it's earning potential." Well freakin' duh. LOL on that one but the bad part is that it suggests I use Google AdSense and most people by now know that the quality of earnings potential for Google AdSense is just far to low. With that same traffic, your potential to earn money with another program would be much, much, much, much higher.

I happen to have a friend who is sitting on a one work .com that I can't mention but that been professionally appraised at more than $250k by more than 3 companies and this service put the value of that website at $30k :P

However if you are curious and bored and don't put a whole lot of stock into it, tools like dnScoop.com, Estibot.com and Leapfish.com are fun to play around it but you must remember that when it comes time to selling your domain, it won't matter what that free fun little tools say. Buyers want real data.

Such as how much traffic do you have, what kind of quality is that traffic and if you offer anything unique such as content, etc.

Yep. Yep. Cool to play with, but unless I missed it there is nowhere to enter how much a site earns per month, per year, and how much revenue has increased each year of the site's existence. That' s critical info for anyone looking to buy or sell a business.
