Hi there
I already made galleries with text links and with pics links. They convert really different. I recognize that the two most important things are from where the traffic is coming and the destination. Do you think the same?

Yes. Try ti increase your numbers, and keep charts on your traffic's conversion rates. Try new things and track those as well. This is the R&D you need to work out whats going to work best for you.

SEs prefer text link rather than pictures links 'coz text links are easily crawled while the pics links is crawlable if with the alt tags on it...
