Distribution and DVD sales
I was wondering guys, I am getting ready to launch a new production company and wanted to know what I am getting into with distrubition and sales. Any in's and out's, tricks of the trade to anyone already involved in the productiont to distribution end of this?
I have a pretty good budget and was funded to buy all new lighting, editing, and camera equipment needed by a private funder, so I wanted to get some heads up on this. Who to contact, best companies to contact, etc etc Any advice is good to me! Memphis

How much are distributors buying your titles at and how many are you distributing is what i am wondering. Are any of you shooting content for mobile?

Sorry to tell you this but I think your idea is dead in the water. You will be lucky to get 3 bucks a dvd these days and most wont pay you at all.. Unless you produce a niche then maybe you have a chance. Save your money and buy a house or something.

not to be rude, but world do you live in that distributors are only buying movies at 3.00 a pop. I haven't got a bite no less than 10 per title. My main thing was to find someone who actually does distribution around here. It's not like I'm producing a 2,000 dollar budget, back woods full of no name talent in my movies. This material would be considered vingette style Hustler, Red light District, etc. content. If there are any distributors on the board, please email me at [email protected]
Also, think about it. Movies getting bought for 3.00 a pop would mean that noone in the industry is making a dime off their dvd's that are being replicated at .60 making a 2.40 cent profit you would have to sell over 20k movies to make a dent into the profit area, which isn't the case. Noone in their right mind would be shooting to lose on every title
