Forums - Pros/Cons?

Hi,

What are your thoughts on using forums on adult sites. Clearly it would be detrimental to the industry to allow stolen content to be passed around, so how easy would it be to stop people from doing that, and still make people want to come to the forum?

Also how easy is it to get yourself a good team of enthusiastic mods?

Thanks in advance

PeteWHP

A good team of moderators is most of the time not so difficult if your forum runs well. Most people like to be the boss and a moderator is some kind of boss so if u ask for a moderator they will be willing to be a moderator most of the time.

Illegal pictures and movies just delete them but if u say that u will delete them most of the time the users will not add them and the few users that add them u can easily delete.

U think a forum is a good place in your website so just try it if it realy is not visited that much just cut it of again. But for beginings just put a large banner on your website qouting that u have a forum and let some friends post what u wanted to be posted on the forum. So u start a conversation in the way u like it.

Dont make to many categories in the beginning!!!!

The forum we have for our LittleMutt site is a great tool for us to get subscriber feedback. We have a great moderator that volunteered to do this for us and all of us on our staff as well as a couple of our models also contribute to moderating the forum.

We have a pretty good set of rules that our users have to abide by or we will ban them.

It is a sure way to add value to your site and to keep your subscribers involved in the things that you have going on.

If you can get your models involved in the goings on in the forum then it is that much better!

We have even gotten sales via the communications that go on thru our forum so it has been an effective tool for us.

Thanks Sen007, sounds like you've got a lot of experience with forums! If I do decide to add the forum, I'll definitely be following your advice! Amazing how easy it is to find mods, I wonder if that will change in the future, and if they'll expect some form of payment.

Cheers shwsrvcs,

You've had a positive experience with your forum, and have done well on getting a team of mods, and the forum has added value to your site.

Now a question for both shwsrvcs and Sen007 (and anyone else with experience): - At this early stage while my site is still embryonic in form, where would I be better off spending my time? Satellite blogs or a forum?

Thanks again

Regards

PeteWHP

I'll just add...

Ive been on moderator on quite a few non-adult forums, and in each case i was never paid in ££, but there was always SOME back-scratching incentive.

I guess in this context it would be a sampling of free porn? Or if the mod has a site, give them some traffic?

free textual content = search engine crack
