brand new

I work for a couple VC's
they came to me and said hey, we want in the porn industry!!!

So here i am collecting data, resourcing, researching, networking going to award shows, confreneces, and conventions.. to figure where to put the money so my guys dont lose ther asses.

I'm confused.. there is too much going on. and i'm a vrgo so you know I'm an over analyst. I need someeone to put it all to me very simply. I'm discovering the industry is leading cutting edge technology, who would have known til i started this venture... now i'm being told by my partners that i have to master becoming a seo no matter where we put the money.

anyhow i meet with my attorney on wed. with all my data compiled and thats when i say hey, i want a cash program, or i want to produce content, blah blah blha, the problem is i don't know what the fuck, where do i put the money??

i understand there is like a prymid going on i just cant figure it out.. most people cant thats why they come in an lose there ass. I'm thinking we'll have to invest a few years before seeing a return, i could be wrong. a few (much older) people told me I wouldn't be welcomed everyoe would set me up to fail.. i'm however not seeing that the last event i went to was the xbiz and everyone was extremely nice and helpful to me.. theres alot of nice fascinating people in the industry, an industry my heart wasn't set on at first but now that i've been networking i've come to love it.

so back to the point, does anyone want to consult me or break it down cause my mind is in circles.

I love the way people use their astrological to justify a certain behaviors, characteristics and/or thought process.

But i believe the production of content is what make the cash program possible. No matter who consult you is at your discretion at the end of the day, so you should take time to invest these matters for yourself. I just believe is more beneficial. Anyways goodluck!

Welcome to the board Diamond.

A cash program is someone like us who has pay sites. Our affilaites can promote any of our paysites with our content, our free hosted galleries, free hosted blogs, etc. They can use our hosted content on their sites to send traffic to our pay sites, which then they get a % of the profit.

Hope that helps some.

You can compare affiliates and affiliate programs to something like Tupperware or Avon.

As an affiliate program, you're responsible for generating/maintaining the product (ie. the sites). As an affiliate, you're responsible for generating the customers. When a customer makes a purchase, the affiliate and the affiliate program share the profit. There's a few different models as to how the profit is shared. The most popular are pay per sale (PPS) and rev share.

With the former, the affiliate program pays the affiliate a flat fee per sale, typically 100% to 120% of the customer's subscription fee for the first month. The affiliate program makes a profit through various ways (when the customer recurs for more than a month, upselling to other sites or products (sex toys, dvds, etc) in the paid area of the site, using exit popups on non-sales in hopes of generating a sale elsewhere, etc).

Rev share is a revenue sharing model. The program and the affiliate split the membership fee. The most common split is 60% to the affiliate, 40% to the program. Some programs choose to deduct their credit card processing costs from the affiliates' cut, others deduct it from the program's cut and others still split the fees 50/50. Each month that the customer remains a member of the site, the affiliate receives his/her cut.

It is difficult to start a PPS program if you don't have a solid understanding of the business or if you don't have lots of capital to spend. Since your typically paying your affiliates more than the first month's cost, you have to ensure a few things. First, you have to make sure your site has great content so that your members stay for more than a month. Second, since a significant percentage of your members will leave after the first month, you have to do your best to monetize them elsewhere. If you don't, you're technically losing money on them.

As long as you keep your operating costs low, it's hard to lose money with rev share. Even if give 60% to the affiliate and cover the processing costs yourself (~10% - 15%), you're still looking at getting 25% - 30% of each sale.

Hope some of this helps!
