Tax ID or SSN?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to all of this and I have a question.

When you sign up for all these sponsor programs they ask you for your tax ID or Social Security Number. I do not have a tax ID. I work by myself. I do live in the USA. I signed up with SweetMoney and I gave them my SSN. I'm kinda wondering now if maybe that was a bad idea Is it okay to be giving all these different sponsors my SSN or should I go ahead and get a tax ID? What do you guys suggest? Thanks

I always use my EIN number but that's me. You might to start doing it this way in the future but if you work with good people you have nothing to worry about. It's just Uncle Sam wanting to know who gets paid what you know...

You can get an EIN and still be a "sole proprietor".
I chose to get an EIN because I don't want to pass around my SSN

The tax id is better. It take about 30 mins to aquire one on line. You can also open accounts with your tax id such as cell phone, internet, etc.
