Sorry if I sound stupid but I've always wondered what this is actually called or what programs are used to do this.

Say I go to a TGP and click on a picture that I think leads me to a gallery. But instead of being lead to that gallery I'm brought to another TGP site. If I go back and click the same picture again it brings me to the proper gallery this time. What's that called? What software is used to do this?

I'm assuming it has something to do with trading TGP traffic.

The site you are sent to is a traffic trade.

The method by which you were sent there was skimming.

Scripts that do this are called traffic trade scripts and include Tubo Traffic Trader, ATL, and dozens of others.
