Perceived intelligence of politicians poll

It is well known that Tony Blair's sons were state educated, but there are state schools and state schools. Blair's sons went to the London Oratory, the creme de la creme of the state system and received an education of excellence comparable to that they would have received in top private schools. This is hardly a level playing field with the children of manual workers in Deptford or Hackney who went to Gasworks Road Comprehensive, rated as failing badly.

Inevitably there are some young people from the working class who do very well and go on to win whatever 'glittering prizes' the system may offer (it would not work if they were totally excluded), but for most education is more often than not an unremitting struggle, and not because of lack of intelligence.

Moreover, we talk of "intelligence", but what does this mean? Academic intellectual ability? Sometimes this can produce an 'otherworldly' mindset that does not equip an individual well for the cut and thrust of the real world, or are we instead talking about something quite different, a rat-like wiliness and Machiavellian will-to-power that seeks to deceive and manipulate others for personal power and financial gain. Something more akin to psychopathy that psychologists assure us is very common in politicians.

It would seem that few respondents know what is meant by intelligence. A dictionary definition of intelligence covers a wide range of attributes, making meaningful comparisons of people's intelligence almost meaningless. However, had we been asked to evaluate their shrewdness, I suspect Trump would top the list in this group! I have posted before that people grossly underestimate this man and that is very unwise.
