Where do I get my site listed -or- how do I get traffic?

I just submitted to DMOZ, a-teenz.com, adult-links.com, and Golden Links..

Some of these sites look kind of outdated though. Who knows if I will get a response? Some of the TGP submit sites were not able to be contacted. I guess I'm here to ask the fundamentals of getting new users on my Wordpress teen niche blog. Any good sources of traffic or strategies to build it are welcome.

I think I need some video.. Then I could do animated GIFs, turn them black and white, and submit to high traffic blogs on Tumblr. Google search for "tumblr sex" pulled up xxxsexxx.tumblr.com as the most eye catching blog. That's just one idea I had, and I'm sure there are dozens more. Can anyone list some good directories and techniques to get decent quality traffic? I'm at 11,xxx,xxx on Alexa.

Create quality content. Google for similar content. Check backlinkwatch.com to see where they got their links from. Try Linkspun.com.

how to get traffic is one of the most common questions and it is the thing that I have been racking my brain about as well.

I'm pretty new to all this and I am finding my feet as well, but one of the things I have learned about getting traffic and what works for me is simply working harder and thinking a bit more where my traffic is coming from or by using different traffic sources than I have used before.

I run a dating affiliate site and for that site I have stopped buying a lot of traffic that was not converting and have started by posting answers or comments in relevant forums and on articles that relate to my niche and for me it is working. Slowly, by doing that I have managed to get my traffic conversion rate to 21% and my registration conversion to nearly 79%. These figures are worlds apart from what I was getting before.

I know it is probably basic stuff, but for me it works.

If u need steady long term traffic it wise to upload 100+ watermark videos to xxx tubes..

I would say, that there is like 10,000,000 people who try to do the same thing, and because of this, it is not easy. It takes time to learn this, and try a lot of different things too. There is no books about it, or anything like that, and there is a lot of people out there, who have been doing it for 10, 15 or more years. It takes time to build a network of websites, get domain age, large amount of page count, links, and so on. The longer you work on it, and the more good websites you have, the easier it is, down the road. Like you've already mentioned, it is good to be where your audience is, on the Internet, not just on some random sites, around random people, it does not make sense...

DonJon's guide was good but Plugrush popunders have some kind of nasty Android malware...I am glad I noticed it quickly. I disabled them and use my own popunder js. Hope my users weren't scared off.

I've submitted to Dmoz for years. Usually the best of the best when it comes to my sites, I mean I dont bother submitting a blog thats rss fed or short post.. The best user friendly and content packed sites I have. I've got 2 of them listed in the last 6 years so yeah I wouldn't focus too much worrying about getting listed on moz. plenty of other places to work with traffic wise.

Yeah, I've noticed that sometimes with plugrush and juicyads but what you should do when you notice a site that is doing that contact plugrush or juicy and they will look into it and remove that site from advertising on their network or tell them to fix it. They have always fixed those site pretty quickly.

You can make a small website at DirtySexBlog.com, and get decent amount of visitors from there, depending on the size of your site.
