What is the right price to charge for logo design?

hi i am new here. i discovered this logo generating software, it is web-based, and it so happens that i can use it to design and create logo's for webmasters in this industry. i haven't got a front page up yet representing my business, because i am unsure as to how i should charge and at how much. i have thought i will charge by the half hour or hour at let's say fifty dollars but as i said i am unsure as to how exactly i should go about this. can anyone help me with this query?

no i don't have any examples. that is another thing, how do i create examples? do i make them up myself or do i take a site which already exists and design off of that?

        Hi Goblin,

It's unusual to think that a logo generating software could do the work that is needed for a graphic designer. But if you can make logo's that people would actually like to get - I would suggest starting out by doing a few logo's pro-bono. Three or four to get you started should do the trick.

A good spot to post that you are offering would be here in the services sub, or on reddit, their /r/forhire section is a good place to start. Just mention you are doing some logo work for free to get your portfolio going, then once you have done that you can post the logo's you've made and say how much you charge.

At the moment, logo's are hitting a bit of a low in price unless they are REALLY well done. The reason is every tom, jack, and sally are coming along and offering completed logo designs for around $30-50 TOTAL (not per hour or half hour). If you look on /r/forhire you'll see an abundance of logo offerings in that price range, some of which are decent. But seriously you'll have to shine if you plan to get contracts.

I hope this helps, I was a professional graphic designer in my previous life, so if you need any more help please let me know and I'll do what I can.

Hello Goblin, you can also sign up on sites such as Freelancer.com and be part of their design options. Clients often post job offerings or better yet Contests. We often use Contests for certain design projects, to get the best renderings.
I also noticed fiverr.com online, however never used it.
Whenever you have samples, share them on this thread or link us with Imgur.com

            Best of lucks!
