I think you need a step by step hosting plan.

For a startup, DigitalOcean is a good choose, $5/month (512M memory, 20GB SSD disk vps).

If you are looking for VPS my recommendation is to go with digitalocean.com if you are looking for dedicated server than go with leaseweb.com I use both and they are just 10/10 both have quality servers, good network, highly professional and their support are quick in answering. digitalocean.com VPS that i use now is actually netherland vps and their servers are also in same network as leaseweb servers.

I'm currently using certified hosting to all my sites, and I'm very pleased with it.
The support is great and replies fast on questions and I haven't had any problems

I also use AWS S3 for hosting thumbs and things like that.
