Oh, and the dumbest thing I ever did was build a site that works faster on a 56k than on a DSL connection. And I still can't figure out what went wrong.

Ha ha Pegger, I sorta did the same kinda thing that you did. I had up a Topcash link to refer people to the Iteens sponsor program for a few months and I kept wondering why it wasn't catching the signups under me because people were telling me that they joined up under me. Then one day I checked it out and come to find out, I had my account number for my Amateur Pie account in there, so I lost all of those signups under me, that really hurt.

          1. Gave a weeks worth of teensteam sign ups away by entering the wrong account code in the banner href tag

          2. Fucked up a .htaccess file and gave free access to a pay area.

          3. Replaced 150 full size pics with the thumbnails so a click on a thumb gave you a thumb.

          4. Pulled out the office network cable from the T connector and crashed the server while boss was writing an important letter to his bank

            Ouch Susan,

What's so scary is that all of those mistakes would be so easy to make, but, cause so much damage. I, always, need to be extra careful, being the space cadet that I am, those are all things I'm capable of doing on a regular basis LOL. Hope you have a cool boss that realizes how easy it is do do any of those.

My worst to date, and unfortunately I have done this too often, Is work 2 days on a full blown site, then not pay attention to where I'm saving my next project as I'm just beginning it and saving over the other. Let's just say I have perfected the art of kicking myself in my own ass.

I think the dumbest thing I ever did was trying to run a freehost on a T1 line
Then again, that was years ago...

Umm.. dumbest thing... umm... letting named (bind, defacto DNS server) crash when I'm visiting friends... and it happens EVERY DAMN TIME I GO AWAY... grrr....

Other dumb things? Putting all my eggs in one basket, or in this case advertiser... Right before I went to IA 2000 one year, I had an advertiser stiff me for around 10,000$... that definately put a damper on my first IA.... would have been my best month ever... In retrospect, I understand where the confusion came from, however I've never used that advertiser again..

Lets see... other dumb things.... (i've got tons of them)... eh, they'll come to me

one day one of my small sites got several thousand extra hits - it was because I'd accidently replaced AdultCore's warning page with it's main page.
