What percentage of your revenue comes from consoles?

[Brown Bear]

I'm curious about how much people make from consoles. Personally I don't use them because I tried it before and made such a small amount of money from it I didn't think it was worth it. I don't plan on using them again either, but I've noticed how so many paysites use multiple consoles (entrance and exit) and I just gotta wonder if its worth it.

Any of you guys making any good money from them?

[SykkBoy]

we probably do 18-25% from our consoles, some days better than others....

what sort of chain did you have? what type of consoles (full windows or small windows), blur and/or just exit consoles? there's more to making money from consoles than just tossing up a bunch of browser windows.....even some of the "players" have consoles that coulg load faster/work better......

0%
I think it depends on the type of paysite you run, we don´t use consoles since we have alot of people who bookmark our site and buys later on.. because of preview movies ect. But if you have a "normal" tour frontend I think you need to be more aggressive, and use all weapons to get them to use their CC.

Thats quite a large percentage of revenue from consoles, but have you ever wondered if the signups you get from consoles are taking away from the signups for the actual site the surfers are visiting?

It would be interesting to see if your paysites got more signups if you got rid of the consoles. If they didn't, then I would definitely say that adding consoles was a good idea, but if they did get more signups then you would have to wonder if you're actually making more money overall, or are your consoles just getting the signups that your original site would have gotten anyways.

How? If you pop an exit console only when someone closes the site, then how could you be losing sales?

You can argue that consoles in the industry piss surfers off, and that's probably true, but when you look at one site, how can an exit console hurt sales?

I'm not a big fan of consoles personally, but how do they hurt sales?

I'm talking only about exit consoles. Enter consoles or pop unders are a whole different story and I can see them hurting you with surfers.

at least 10%, hard to estimate at the moment.

Im actually one of those "click back" and surf the fuck out of pages guys, and I tend to get way anooyed by "exits" because, its not that i am "exiting" sometimes they pop on "back" man, could be webmasters not popping shit right who knows, but sometimes exits get me and im not done.

Or people who pop shit in new windows then hit you with exits.

BBear talks from the point of you of the webmaster promoting certain per signup sponsors that popup consoles without their affiliate id and he is right on this. But looking the whole picture, consoles help to generate more sales

Yeah, I was thinking about entrance consoles when I said that they might hurt the sales of the actual site that you're trying to sell. I don't see how exit consoles would hurt sales other than maybe pissing off people who have bookmarked your paysite tour because they planned on joining later, and every time they visit your site they get an annoying exit console.

I was thinking from the point of view as a paysite owner. I don't use consoles, I tried it before and it didn't make all that much extra money, so I scrapped it, but I've been thinking about adding an exit console.

I can tell you that many of the top sponsors make 10-25% of their non-recurring income from exit consoles.
Exit consoles are what take many programs from "breaking even" to "turning a profit". Take away exit consoles and many programs would be hurting.

There are two main types of consoles on paysites: 1)Blur on Enter & 2)Exit

Blur on Exit: When the surfer enters the main page it loads a console BEHIND the page and when the page is closed the console is there already loaded waiting to be seen. There are a few tips to consider with this type of console. You must make sure the main page loads 100% of the screen (there are javascripts to do this) so that part of the blur console is not visible. It is advisable to make the blur console text so that it does not take long to load and does not slow down the main page from loading. Make sure to use a TARGET="new" to open the links in a new browser. Change the "new" on each console to something like "new1" or "console1" so that you dont get pages popping in the same window.

Exit: When the surfer leaves the main page a console pops. Any link on the main page that you do not want to pop a console requires that you insert a command such as "onclick: exit=false" (the command will be determined by the javascript you use). This command will keep that link from popping the console when clicked. This is usefull on links to join pages, tour pages, 2257 pages, etc.. You only want the console to pop when the surfer is leaving the page and does not plan on buying.

Exit Consoles can be a pain in the ass and can piss surfers off when not done correctly. When done right, they can substantially increase your income. Results may vary but in very few instances does it cause you to make LESS money.

Well designed consoles can be good, but the best thing is to do one at a time, and not to pop anything until the surfer is finished looking at your site.

Our partners can control the level of consoles they want, depending on what they want... from really aggressive, to very mild, to none at all depending on how they link

most partners choose to have a single blur console and nothing else

[Zebra]

Above I meant Blur on Enter, NOT Blur on Exit.
Two totally different concepts..

[Meloman]

Consoles account for 10%-25% of revenue.

Consoles make money period. If you don't use them u're leaving money on the table. If you try to use them and can't make money you're doing something seriously wrong.

I love consoles!

I get a lot of % coming from bungholes

I reckon most (across the whole spectrum) are doing 5% - 10% from consoles but remember that its becoming less and less effective by the day.
