here's a friendly reminder.

back in january, he threw a contest offering $50 for a logo for his site selling retro clothing.

after tons of incredible entries from very talented designers, he claimed they all sucked and opted not to choose a winner and pay out the $50.

when challenged to provide the URL for the site where he wanted to use the logo (in order to prove he hadn't just used someone's design without paying), he simply ignored the challenge and disappeared until last month.

i guess he thought people would have forgotten by now. well i didn't, and i'm sure others like tootie and snipah7 didn't.

I am not Canadian and have no idea what went on here aside from what was posted and linked because I don't usually follow threads regarding cheap design contests. However, as a "graphic designer" yourself, it seems you could have easily done something up faster than making a contest and what not. I'm not saying it's true, but this story reeks of, "I had this idea I thought was great but no money to invest in it. So I ran a contest I wasn't sure I could follow up on should the idea fail...," etc.

If you run a contest , pick a winner and pay them even if you don't end up using their work. It's that easy.

you claim to be a designer. say i hired you to design an entire paysite for me worth $700. then say i decided not to go ahead with the site afterall. would you still expect me to pay you the $700 for your time? or would you let it slide?
