Currently $599 here when buying from the US. Similar specs on your end?

I bought an i5 laptop over two years ago. I don't understand why that is still the standard? Maybe I'm missing something. Also the 6 GB of RAM is not very attractive, but it's a great price so you could easily upgrade.

Why would you need 17 inch laptop? It is not portable, max is 15 inch for actually portable.

It's the cost of i7 and the fact that for mobile computing, i5 is plenty powerful.

Agreed on the 17" screen - too big & heavy. Less is more. I have one and hate hauling that fucker around, always go with the 15" when I'm out & about.

i5, 8GB RAM, 1920x1080, 1TB HDD, Geforce 2GB video.
Well, its for mobile Photoshop use and work with an external display.
$1k here in Poland. Fucking VAT 23%.

i7 is more expensive but dont really need that to pay extra.

I have a 14 inch screen on my new Lenovo and it is perfect size for being mobile while still able to get some work done. I don't miss the numbers pad. When I am home I plug in my own mouse and keyboard. Keys on this Lenovo are a little spongy but I got used to it.

I had a 17 inch Macbook and hated the size. I think when you get it to that size you have to be so much more careful not to damage it in any way when moving it around even when it is in a case.

I do Photoshop jobs, 14 inch display its no use at all, even 17" 1600x900 is barely usable.
So, 17 HD is ok. I'm a tall dude, a 7" looks like iphone in my hand ))

Also, its more like putting it in the trunk, go places and work from a hotel room.

I used to have a 17" laptop and honestly I hated traveling with that thing. It got incredibly hot compared to any other laptop I've owned as well.

I wonder what it would cost for me to buy it here and ship it to you.

Or you could order from China.

A 17" is likely to run hotter, make sure you take that into account. Good luck with it!

17 is for people who don't like bending over like 90 yrs old into
the little screens and keyboards. want to watch things full screen like pimps
from the bed. big case players...

you can find backpacks for 17 but its hard to find.
and that's true about the heat, but hey, its global warming anyway...

I see where is the problem,
in the model i'm about to get there is a dedicated graphic chipset and it has 8GB RAM,
not mentioning if offers full HD 1920x1080, so that is where the price
difference comes from.

The PC laptop I bought 5 years ago was full res. The $500 laptop my parents just bought does 1080p. I don't see why the one in the link wouldn't either. Even intel integrated can handle full res HD and has for a few years now.

Intel® HD Graphics 4600 - can handle 4K video - this is the graphics chip in the one in the link.

But I'd see into getting a used in a good condition 17" Macbook Pro.
In fact, i have a palce to stay in New York, so I might even consider
taking a butt hurt to fly over.

It's in Polish, but the tech data is easy to see, below on the page:
