YNOT is another board I hang out on (they partner here with GFY so no big deal). There have been a few threads over there that have been hashed and rehashed and go on for pages.
Part of this has been caused by the nature of Paul Markham and will76 getting into it.

All of this could have been solved by Paul simply posting his stats at the beginning of the threads:

If you can prove that you made 100s of NEW sales in 2013 to your membership site then I will shit my pants and never question anything you say again.

I will require photo evidence of this in the outside chance proof is offered!

The server is fucked, being too old, the CMS is fucked, being too old. I have 3 options, spend money to get them put right, spend time at the computer working to make sure I get the sites re opened when they crash, blow it all our and retire. Now if they had $3,000 and a clue, they could buy the content and make sales. Let's face it traffic is all they need and they have millions of that. LOL

Ok, while I have to admit 162 new sales this year is more than I expected. (I assume "single" is the new sales column as I am not familiar with ccbill admin.) I am safe from shitting my pants since I said "100s". I also underestimated that we are already in October and just 0.5 sales a day still adds up. I will honor the part of not replying to your posts. At least people can see now what you have accomplished in sales this year to go along with your knowledge of knowing what the surfer wants in 2013 and how to make sales.

Not so fast buddy! "Single" is new non-recurring subscription plans, "Recurring" is new subscriptions that will rebill. "Rebill" is the only non-new sales column. So 162+188 is 350. That is "hundreds".

Honestly, 19k in sales (and over 14k in new customers this year so far) for a site that's been obviously idle for years and requires no work at this point - a sign that there's still money to be made in this biz and the subscription model in particular.

I agee with your assessment, if a dormant site with 5+ year old design and content can still make 1-2 new sales a day then there must still be a decent amount of sales out there.

What strikes me as odd, is that he is closing the sites. I'm sure 14K is a lot where he lives, and frankly, he is old and very ill with a young wife and daughter.

Why not just keep the site going? He said he needs a new server. Well, they are cheap as chips. A CMS? loads of cheap options there.

He could leave behind at least a few grand a month for his family for when he is gone.
