One of my Land Rovers has a tiny tear in the suede interior door... HELP!

Ok, so one of my Rovers has a tear on the door... inside the driver's side door. I am afraid my kids will play with the tear and make it worse.

Yes, I have looked for "suede repair kits" as well as on the Rover forums. Basically I just want to hold it down so it doesn't get worse. Any upholstery guys that can chime in on a temp fix until I trade it in?

Hold on, I'll take a pic... it's small.

Shit pic... Point is, it's like a smaill "V" tear... if somebody was to get caught on it, it could get much worse.

Everything I have read says get a matching door panel.... I just want to hold it down for the time being.

try slipping a small piece of leather or material under"inside" the tear. then CAREFULLY superglue the edges. won't last forever, but it will hold in place for a while.

This is an awesome idea. Thank you. Might have to actually cut it open a bit more to do so. Appreciate it

Actually it makes sense. This thing is soon into trade in status... I am not willing to invest a grand into a door panel I won't see back. Learn2cars.

if you have any upholstery shops nearby, stop in and ask them for a leather repair person or perhaps here

I hear you... it's actually not suede... it's actually microfiber... and it's hard glued to the interior door panel with a foam back... similar to a headliner. If that makes any sense what so ever.

whatever you do, NEVER use the land rovers transmission as a brake. E.G. using the "park" to stop....trust me, this is bad and will certainly void your warranty and cause serious damage. and then when you leave said vehicle at say, land rover of palm beach, all the windows will be smashed out creating a whole new pandora of problems.....

that's a nice setup, i'd at least drop by a local upholstery shop and ask them. i'm an advocate of handling my own shit but man, modern interiors are very sophisticated and those repair guys have all the right tools.

I've had a full suede interior installed on my Infiniti, it shouldnt cost that much and if it does your getting ripped off. They can put a patch on the backside and reglue it to the door. a full door wrapped in suede with custom stitching should be no more than 500

First, as a owner of 2 Land rover currently and 6 in the past, con grates on having a vehicle designed to go 130k then totally fall apart....

On to the question, check out this company. I have talked with them myself on other projects and they seem good...

Lots of detailers should be able to fix up a disco cloth interior quite easily, certainly for a low value rather than a new door card. Otherwise hemming material, placed inside and under tear and gently iron through a tea towel can do a fix up. IMHO next time leather, much nicer to have and better resale even if cloth cars are tempting buys.

not sure exactly why you don't take it to the dealer

but what you should be able to do is find a autowreckers, and get a replacement panel.

Here it's the price, plus install if necessary. So to get a control arm ripped and replaced, $200 bucks for nissan altima 97 (car worked on)
