Just a public service announcement to caution everyone about IDS Adult (idsadult.com).

My brief story begins in early Dec 2011. I have a new site needing to be designed. I purchased ElevatedX and wanted a tour/website built on and integrated with EX. AJ from EX recommended me to a few designers and I decided to go with IDS Adult. I laid out the requirements for them and timelines and we agreed on everything. With all my requirements I was told "no problem" I sent example sites with similar functionality and design that we wanted. I was originally told 2 weeks for design and 2 weeks for EX integration. That was within my time frame and was happy to get excited.

Within the next few days I provided 600+ high res photos for design content and after about a week I had design proofs to which I made revisions and a few days later new proofs. This process went on for over a month. One of the biggest issues is IDS' lack of quality control. It seems they would fix one thing in one revision and break something else. Minute little errors all over the place. Spelling, alignment, inconsistencies from one page to another. I found myself having to take the proof screenshots and draw annotations of them because it seems like through text they just didn't get it.

In early Feb 2012 the design was finally to a point to start coding the EX integration. Weeks went by and finally after several emails they had the tour pages setup within EX. However content was not being pulled in. So more time goes by and after more emails I get a reply saying oh we need content in the CMS. Now, while I understand that now....at this point I am new to EX and they as experienced EX designers should have told me that content will need to be in the system before it can be coded. So I scramble and start getting content loaded. Now weeks go by and I am loading content almost every other day. Then I finally get an update that is pulling content but thumbnails are the wrong size, and more quality control issues. This goes on all through Feb into late March. I finally had to send a stern email to the point person Jey P to get things fixed.

Fast foward to today. My tour works, but still has many bugs. I am not a programmer so I am looking for someone to help fix the problems (I have a few emails out.) Through speaking with support at ElevatedX, it turns out that IDS basically was submitting support tickets pretty much for everything I wanted integrated. Seems they really didn't know how to make an integrated tour after all. EX support became very frustrated with them because they are there to do tech support and fix problems not do the job for IDS which increasingly seemed the case. EX support has been out of this world helpful to me however they can only help me so much as I am not a programmer. AJ

During this time I spoke with AJ a few times about my horrible experience, mainly because he was the one to recommend them. AJ reached out to IDS about the issues recently and IDS emailed me promptly asking what needed to be fixed. Tired of going back and forth via email I asked to speak via phone or skype. I heard nothing and sent another email asking about phone or skype and 3 days later I got a reply saying "tomorrow at noon via skype". That tomorrow came and went and its been probably 14 days now since they were supposed to call. In my latest communication with AJ he said that he has gotten additional complaints about them since mine and that its probably time to go to the boards to let everyone know of this experience with this company and that with why I made this post.

I kept this as brief as possible. If your considering IDS Adult, especially for ElevatedX tours, you might want to think again.

There was a major language barrier. They are based in Argentina and while Jey P seemed to have good english, his workers did not. EX support told me it was very hard communicating with them effectively.

Your gonna need one if you wanna do anything custom. The beauty of EX is that its very powerful and can make your life a lot easier. However this also comes at a level of complexity. I hope that in future versions they work on ease of use and have sorta drop in code blocks so you don't have to code everything you want custom.

You'd only need one if you're looking to make major mods and customizations that will take coding work.

95% of our customers never use a programmer at any point in time while using Elevated X. Check out the testimonials on our site for example. Many are models and porn stars and producers who are solo or husband and wife operations. I can count the customers we have who use or employ programmers on 1 hand.

In 6 years we've only had 4 or 5 customers get burned by a designer. Usually it's some kind of personal tragedy that makes a once reliable designer take a drastic turn the other way and then go MIA and vanish.

IDS has been around a while and until recently had only appeared consistent and reliable.

This is a very unfortunate situation as Peedy is the second person to contact me in the last 2 weeks to report similar experiences with IDS Adult. JeyP from IDS is currently not responding to messages which is very unlike him. My hope is that there's a reasonable explanation and that nothing bad has happened to him.

Needless to say we are no longer referring any of our customers to them for quotes and are anxiously awaiting a response from them and some word as to whether JeyP is okay.

At this point things definitely do not look good but we're crossing our fingers for a positive outcome

I also want to be clear that I am completely happy with ElevatedX CMS. I wanted some advanced functionality in my tour and that kind of thing requires a programmer whom knows that they are doing.

wow I am surprised to hear this. Jey P has always responded promptly to me and was experiencing some mild growing pains at the beginning of the year, from what I was told. I haven't talked to him in the last month or 2 though. I hope all works out, as he seemed to have a real good thing going!

I was surprised too. He always replied promptly for me too, often emailing me back within minutes. Maybe someone who knows him more personally will shed some light on what's going on...

Jey-P is a great guy. I used to have his staff of designers work for me for many years and was happy most of the time. Yes, sometimes they are a little bit careless and make promises they can't keep. Shit happens.

there really are no really easy CMS's out there especially if you want customization - Mark Tiarra does Elevated-X integrations, seems to know what he's doing.

But I approached a few of the big CMS for eval copies.

Sitedepth were gracious enough to supply me with one.
As was that adultCMS WP fella.

Konrad and ElevX both grinched me....
Mechbunny is VERY easy to skin, so grinch on.
ElevX, ive not done it. And I dont think its right for me to learn a script on someone elses bill. (which is what looks like has happened to you). And ill be damned if im paying for it..

If I get an eval copy I will learn it. Until then your stuck with the stale shit that is currently being kicked out :P

the word 'outsourcing' was the clue. Designers might be flaky or promising more than what they can do, but outsourced designers multiply this danger by 10. There's a reason why they're working for outsourcers. Think about it.

As for the design, it screams vanilla. Already forgot everything about the site, I remember there was a hot girl and tan colours, nothing else. I like more fetish and hardcore stuff though, so maybe it's just my taste. If vanilla was your intention, then it was successfully achieved, but IMHO it's boring as hell.

Just be happy you dind't ask for any customization and used the regular EX layout or you'd cry really loud with this level of 'service'

Option1: the client is wrong and got what he wants

Ive lost all my icq history and i have to rely on memory here. (hazy) But I approached a few of the big CMS for eval copies. Sitedepth were gracious enough to supply me with one. As was that adultCMS WP fella. Konrad and ElevX both grinched me.... Mechbunny is VERY easy to skin, so grinch on. ElevX, ive not done it. And I dont think its right for me to learn a script on someone elses bill. (which is what looks like has happened to you). And ill be damned if im paying for it.. If I get an eval copy I will learn it. Designers might be flaky or promising more than what they can do, but outsourced designers multiply this danger by 10. There's a reason why they're working for outsourcers. Think about it. As for the design, it screams vanilla. Already forgot everything about the site, I remember there was a hot girl and tan colours, nothing else. I like more fetish and hardcore stuff though, so maybe it's just my taste. If vanilla was your intention, then it was successfully achieved, but IMHO it's boring as hell. Just be happy you dind't ask for any customization and used the regular EX layout or you'd cry really loud with this level of 'service'
