Making our first FreeSite - Advice Please

OK I know I am leaching everyone's juice... but I have another question, which I hope all you freesite guru's can help me with

I want to develop our own traffic... just wondering what is best to use "software" wise on a freesite...

I am thinking we need some sort of traffic trading script and I am thinking something to manage the TGP's... ? Is there any thing else ?

With the TGP's we want to be able to do a number of things... we want to be able to put some of our own galleries in there, we want a premium section where we sell spots, and of course we want a free section... so what ever we use hopefully can manage this...

We want to also use the scripts on multiple domain names eventually... so it's important we can do this too...

Sounds like you want a tgp, not a freesite. A freesite is a main page that links (most of the time) to two galleries of thumbs. As mentioned go with smart thumbs and a traffic trading script such as trade pulse and many others.

Not sure I would bother doing a tgp these days though, but hey it's your time to waste.

I thought most free sites had TGP's as part of them... an important component, have I got that wrong then ?

We are looking at a freesite with loads of components to encourage people to re visit/bookmark the site... and I would of thought fresh new galleries being submitted by people would work well for that ?

We are also looking at doing a Tube site (or two) and a message board specific to our sites... all part of our new traffic hub... but baby steps first...

So your with Sly on this, are TGP's really done and dusted ? Is it all "TUBE TUBE TUBE ?" nowadays...

I thought Juicy Ads for example had ad spots on sites that mainly were tgp based freesites, mind you I aint checked them for a while I guess...

He want to promote/push his own galleries and sell ad spots on his own. That is not what hostedtube does, so read his request before you just out of nowhere suggests your own product, which ultimately is meant to push pimproll stuff.

i think the problem you are having is that you are confusing galleries and free-sites. TGPs show galleries, free sites are normally a main page that links to two gallery pages and are listed at Linklists.

Ok then my termanology was indeed flawed... I guess TGP's have become a little second fiddle... guys want videos, and I guess that's TUBES !

I think we'll develop a number of things... we bough a couple of good URL's for Tubes, well for our big boobs anyways... and a couple of scripts to run them... So they are definetly on the list to do...

We bought a couple of good urls for message boards... again for the big boob stuff...

But surely there is still a place for gallery sites ? I can still see plenty out there lol...

I don't think it's all tube tube tube, However starting a tgp these days is only going to cause you headaches. You haven't done one before, it's really going to be more trouble then it's worth and I wouldn't be wasting the time and energy on it.

Can I ask if you have any current blogs? If not why not start a few of them first and go from there.

One of my business partners who will be heading up the development of the traffic has had some experience... and we're definetly looking at combining a bunch of stuff, including tgp's, tubes, blogs and message boards... A lot of work but a area I think we've definetly missed out on...

And "Fletch" by submits what do you mean exactly... we're going to include free submits and also have some premium paid spots if that's what you mean ?

Yes you do. A few times a week as needed, traffic is cleaner and more targeted.

The galleries part is automated yes, But you will spend loads of time finding new trades managing current trades and all that side of things. And It is very time consuming to even find a decent tgp these days that will actually take new trades.

I wouldn't start with a TGP. The succesful TGPs you're still seeing have been online for ages. You really need to know how to play the TGP game.

Try a blog instead - they still attract a lot of SE traffic.

Don't over complicate things, start one blog with Wordpress.

This will cost you nothing but your time to update it, update it as many times as you can daily with mainly video content and some photo posts and learn SEO

Seriously I'd update it 10 or 20 times a day, the more the better frankly!

Focus on quality

If you want to build up bookmarks you'll have to post original content and I'd advise only promoting under exposed paysites, pick your niche and only promote sites your competition isn't promoting.

Typically this will mean promoting paysites that charge smaller join fees per month, this is an area you'll need to research.

Anyway do that for a month or two and it should be earning you enough to hire someone to update it for you. Then you create the next blog, do it right and within a year you could have 6 - 8 quality blogs

Do you have a constant supply of fresh face natural models in your niches?

If the answer to all these questions is yes. Think outside the box and don't even try to compete with people who have been doing this for years and their skill is sending traffic.

That's all I will say here. Marketing isn't copying others, who have a ten year head start on you.

Paul you say dont compete with people who have 10 years head start on us, but surely we have to start somewhere ?

I value the traffic sent by others (affiliates) however many people have been amazed we dont have out own traffic, I mean for a start it would give us pretty much 100% of the sales...

Our sites are massively under promoted, and even though they convert pretty darn good with the limited traffic they get, we dont seem to be able to attract any major traffic...

So we really feel that we need to start getting our own traffic hub sorted... this will come from a mixture of blogs, tgp/freesite, tubes and message boards... a lot of work I know, but again we're not expecting this to happen in a month or two...

"Marketing isnt copying other's who have a 10 year start on you" ??? Sorry but again from a Marketing prospective I couldn't disagree with you more... yes it's great to think outside of the box, come up with something new and original... even though I think most of it's been done before...

But your telling me that a new start up company shouldnt look at what successful and established companies do in the way of advertising, both the vehicles they use to promote themselves and the themes of those promotions ? A new chain of burger restraunts shouldnt advertise on TV cause McDonalds have been doing it for years ?

We have an unsaturated product in my opinion... We will both drive to get our own traffic, and also get affiliates to give us more of a push too...

Whatever it is you do, try to focus on 1 thing at a time. You talk about a board, blogs, tubes, tgps, etc but you will not be able to put up a proper project when you want to do it all at once. Unless you have 20 man staff around to help you out of course.

Thanks Roald, it will indeed be baby steps... I'm glad we get some traffic/sales off you guys, if it wasn't for you lot we'd be eating real bland food ! Think I might have to bring some of our girls over, and take you out for dinner
