Yer we currently use Google Analytics but also just wondered what other solutions people have that might work better for us.

I use Google analytics and also HiStats.com Bot are free and they both return about the same stats. I think analytics has better info on referrers and SE words.

If you have only one website and are not doing any seo work or buying ads, the risks that come with using Google Analytics are not that big. In all other cases, I would consider it extremely irresponsible.
