That only mattered in terms of it being considered a hate crime in federal court. If he said punks, then so be it. But technically, some renowned persons opinion is still not the legal opinion of the FBI who is actually tasked with analyzing it.

This crime should not be about race anyway. Every crime is a hate crime. Every time race is mentioned it deflects from what really happened.

I find that unlikely. I'm not saying the kid was an angel; Kids are kids. But it's not like he has a history of violent behavior.

And even if the kid did attack first, that still doesn't give him the right to shot and kill him dead. The "stand your ground law" only applies when your life is in danger. While a seventeen year old is capable of great harm, at no point in time was Zimmerman's life in danger. This was a fist fight; The kid was armed with a bad of skittles.
