Hardlink buyers beware of this type of scam

This guy, who now is a known scammer here: PayPal email: [email protected] scams buyers by selling them one year links from sites he doesn't own and then buys from the sellers 1 - 3 month links and does a paypal chargeback/dispute on that even. I was a victim of such a scam but luckily I was scammed only out of $135. There may well be more like him out there.

Here's some tips how to avoid these scams:
    1) Don't pay before the link is up. This is not enough however.
    2) Contact the owner through contact info available at the site you're buying links from to ensure the guy you are making a deal with is the same guy who owns the site. If none available, see 3).
    3) Tell the seller to upload a txt file to all the sites you're buying links from that says for example something like: I verify that I am the owner of this site, not a reseller and that I have talked directly with (your contact info here). If this is not true, please don't upload this and contact me.

Or skip all of that and do business with a trusted gfy veteran.

FWIW, I do the following for unknown persons:
              1. Require an email from a domain to verify ownership
              2. Only accept Paypal from verified accounts
              3. If domains are hidden behind privacy services, personally I am immediately skeptical of validity and absolutely require some form of verification. In 15 years in this business, it's been my experience that most people serious about business don't try to hide their business.
              4. Do a search here and Google, and other known resources, for the person's email, ICQ number, domain names, etc. It's usually not difficult to weed out the potential scams and avoid a hassle.

In other words, due diligence is a must to avoid scams. Once satisfied, I have no problem in paying for implementation beforehand. There's a lot of very good people to do business with on GFY.
