Thought I smelled something cooking an hour or so ago. goodgirl could not identify it.

Just looked outside and saw an orange tint and lots of ash falling.

there were ashes that traveled by wind laying all over our doorstep this morning in Canoga Park...

at first I wasn't sure if it was from the mexican cookout nextdoor or the blaze in them thar hills.. ;-p

My aunt and her man just moved into a new place in Yorba Linda last week, he went to grab lunch, then they wouldn't let him back in. She works for a senior community that's also been evacuated, she's on lockdown there until later tonight, as hardly any other staff members could get through. Craziness...

The sky here in Santa Monica (about 25-30 miles from the Sylmar fire) are covered with a smoky cloud, and I can smell burning. This is a really bad fire.

I was just watching some news show about all the cali fires and what was scary was that they say the fires themselves are nothing compared to the long term ill affect of all, the toxins that are in the air everyone there is breathing in. Sad to think about that.

Our entire family lives in Yorba Linda and they got mandatory evacuation calls. Sheriffs going around making sure people leave.

It's been hell around here. Ash everywhere...the smell. It's a about 5 miles from here and they have people at a local hotel and my old high school around here. Went down there to see if they needed help. Red Cross is pretty snobby. They wont let you volunteer unless you're approved.

I'm in Hollywood and I can smell it. Just had to close my patio door because it smelled so bad. I have a shoot tomorrow in Encino - I hope we'll be able to get outside. I hate shooting everything indoors

the Sylmar fire was again close to my house just like the one a few weeks ago. sucks so bad, this smoke from this one is way worse; could barely breathe outside and having problems even inside.

just heard about (still in vegas)... i only found out because one of the dealers asked where we were coming from and then mentioned the fires. i'm like wtf so called my brother in-law to go check on the house...and he couldnt get into yorba linda at all. headed out first thing in the AM

I could smell it all day in Hollywood and the Valley.


Imagine how it smells when an entire neighborhood starts using firewood in the winter. Then multiply that times 4 across an entire city.


I hope the people affected by it make out ok. It's really a bad time to have to go through this.
