Actually your only half right most of the great names are taken but quite a few drop every day. Be creative spend about 10 hours at whomever you use to reg names and come up with a few more.

the only one that might have a value to someone could be MAINSTREAMFORUM.NET - but the rest isn't even worth the reg fee....

True.But there is trick how to make unkown name brand name.Simply pay to some celebrity actor to say that name in one movie and voila.
Also i had 5 years ago domain moneyportal.net but i didnt renew,and now person or company who have that domain now want 1000$.

yeah unfortunately i wouldnt beleive the whole lot would be worth anything, but plenty of good domains do come up each day
