Depends how much cash you need to live on, what your overhead, what your revenue streams are and how comitted you are. If you bust ass you can make like USD25k a year at this in like two months.
Is that enough for you to live on? Do you mean by 'live' drive a BMW? Right now I'm in the Ramen/rice/can't afford movies/can barely pay bills/don't drive a car stage.
Just doing galleries now and looking at inexpensive hosts to start my own tgp.
As for commitment, I really want to do this full time. It's all I can think about and I'm anxious to get it going. It feels like it's taking forever but I've only been at it for about 3 weeks.

Marcus, you might want to look at some of the other types of sites out there and not focus so much on TGP...
TGP may be the most popular, but it probley has the least number of truely sucessful webmasters...
It can be done, but for most Full-time webmasters it's a small part of their routine.

Been doing this full time for three years.
My husband had a job and worked this business part time until two years ago and now he's full time.
There are four partners and we support twelve people...including ourselves....and nine dogs.....who we're trying to train as secretaries...it's been very hard.
I wouldn't trade this biz for anything.
