    Battery Backups Don't Work When....

You don't plug the computer into the correct plugs in the back

I don't know how I did that, but I have had this thing for quite a while, I hope that I learn to read the instructions more carefully next time

They also don't work when your idiot-ass bandwidth supplier you co-locate with decides to plug unclean generator power directly into them. This is of course after we expressed concern about not having on-line UPS'es, yet they assured us it was fine. :P

    Oh well, live and learn.

Ouch, so you are saying that wilber was out there revvin up the ol 62 pickup with the big conveyor belt powering the recycled electric bus motor, converted from dc to an ac generator and hooked into the mains with a set of walmart jumper cables, was just a little spikey?

My battery back up has saved my puter many a time.. I would highly recommend everyone have it. There actually pretty cheap to buy now. A very smart investment.

Yeah i shut everything down and plugged the computer and monitor into the "correct" outlet now

I sure got a suprize this morning when the power went off, and thought "... I have five minutes to shut down my computer..." only to find that it was already off. Then I have that stupid shut down error and have to wait eons while the computer scans the big hard drives for errors...
