The default theme is rather plain on purpose so people will (hopefully) choose their own colors/fonts/style so each directory is unique and not cookie-cutter. I just liked the Ubuntu font.

I really like this theme....I bought it and put it aside for a few weeks and finally came back to it. I was going to do a listing like everyone else but there are way too many copy cats. So I played around and just did RSS feeds as posts... 1315.org is what I'm playing around with right now.

Your theme seems to do exactly what this plugin does already.
Make Screenshots and screenshots of the website already show up in media?
Or did i miss some thing?

Hey gnaw, cool. Couple of suggestions if going this way:
1) In Directory Options you can set a default Max height for all categories, so they'll look nice and tidy instead of some being way longer than others. Or you can set different Max heights on each category if you wish.
2) If not using it as a review site but just for normal posts, you should set the Post Layout to 'WordPress default' in the Post Options so it looks better.

No, I missed it.
I was trying to make that plugin work with the theme, got frustrated, and wrote my own code instead.
But I forgot to remove that plugin from the 'recommended' list. My bad. It is not needed.

So in other words you forgot to credit yourself one of the best features of your theme...


Little thing i noticed, In the manual it says:

You can optionally use the keyword <!--maddossplit-> to put the content after the split into it's own row.

This should be

<!--maddossplit-->

thats what you find out after C & P from your otherwise very good documentation.
To bad it took me about 20 minutes to find out...


Just thought i put it here to in case some one has the same trouble.
Glad i can help to make the maddos theme even better.

Little bumb, news and review.

I bought the script, and man, did HowlingWolf deliver!
Not only a nice, well programmed and well documented theme, but i have to say i have had the best service on any wp theme ever!

Made some suggestions, noticed a few bugs and all where responded to fast, and if needed solved, explained or added as extra features.
I have been testing the latest beta the last 2 weeks and it has been a good experience working with HowlingWolf! I expect the results to be in the next release.

Must say i have had worse experiences after noticing bugs and asking for improvements or extra features.
And HowlingWolf is running a one man show, not pretending to be a big company, as some more "famous" wp theme makers do.

TL;dr

BUY IT!
Awesome theme for a very, very decent price.

Maddos directory theme v1.7 is released. Licensed users can update right in their WordPress admin.

You can add site content manually or you can import a site list with an import plugin.
There is no pre-built site or artificial intelligence.

Please note with the release of WP 5.0 (Gutenberg), saving a post no longer refreshes the edit page.
So although Maddos will still retrieve the site icon, screenshot, etc. when a post is saved, it will not show on the edit screen until you refresh the page.

Until a workaround is found, you can remember to refresh the edit page yourself or continue using the classic WordPress editor.

Big changes coming with the Maddos theme!



Most importantly, the Directory will be widgetized into 1-4 sidebar columns and you can add any other widgets you want anywhere you want, such as ads and toplists. This allows you to customize the site design and order the categories any way you want easily.

Using the new sidebars will take precedence over the Directory Settings, which will eventually be deprecated. If updating, all the deprecated settings will work, but you are encouraged to use the new sidebars and widgets. Please check your site after updating.

For those with the theme, if you wish to get a head start, you can select 'Check for Beta Updates' in the Maddos Settings -> License page. New docs should be up soon.

Hey folks, just released the biggest update yet for the Maddos theme, version 2.6. This is a go-between release that supports legacy setups as well as many new features like the widgetized directory format. It now supports adding ads, toplists, or any widget you want anywhere in the Directory.

You can check the upgrade notes in the online docs as well as the actual changelog. Your site should look the same after upgrading, and converting to the widget format should only take a few minutes.
