If you've already used up your one .99 cent domain coupon from GoDaddy (CJCRMN99U)
I've been doing this when buying new domains through the registrar, instead of paying $13.19 or whatever it is for a regular domain name, for $12 using this Coupon (cjcrmn1hos) you can essentially buy hosting for 12 months at $1 per month and then get a free .com along with it, and can use it unlimited times.
Even if you just need the domain for a redirect, you can always add a different domain to the hosting plan for a different project in the future.
GoDaddy is by no means the best host out there, in fact they're far from it, but I figured I'd share this in case anyone else is using them and looking for a deal.
