I've got a couple of opening on my network for both header and footer links. My sites are pretty well aged, the oldest site was registered in 1998, that's over 16 years old !!! My sites did lose a lot of PR ranking with Google's update a while back, but I'm working on recovering it. Even without the PR ranking, I still see a fair share of Google traffic.
Speaking of traffic, every spot is on an active TGP site which network has been averaging 150k unique daily hits, so your link will get some exposure and have traffic potential
