I'm a huge, huge Tony fan (No Reservations = Best Food & Travel Show Ever), but 'The Layover' just didn't do it for me.

I kinda saw that show as Travel Channel milking the golden cow for all he was worth.

Looking forward to his new show this spring.

I've been in the specialty food business for years now and met Anthony a few times at food conventions during his book reads. A very opinionated person, but very critical of himself. I like him and audio-ed or read all his books, seen all of his shows including the one mentioned, and what he's saying in a nice way, that place sucks.

Toronto in 2006 for 4 days and by the second day was looking forward to going home. That's how much that city sucks. I've met lot's of Canadians and never met one I really didn't like, but Toronto has a pleasant surface, but the underbelly was pretty much self-absorbed people for no reason. And this is coming from a guy who lived in Portland Oregon at the time.

Sounds like a great sample size to make all of those generalizations on.... I have been to many different places around the world and I like a lot of them but to say Toronto sucks is a joke. I live here and live in the underbelly and it is by no means full of self absorbed people. It is one of the most diverse, accepting and fun places to live on Earth. Too bad you had a poor experience.

..oh my, Toronto is about as exciting as Buffalo trying to be Brooklyn. I've also traveled extensively and can peg the people perfect. Narcissist playing a game of not trying to be outed as a narcissist.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. Its a great city in my opinion and I know more people that agree with that statement than disagree with it.

As he's driving into downtown "not a good looking city, not a good looking town" - he's so right, by big city standards it's ugly. Even the hipsters and hippies are second rate.

I lived there for 5 years. It is notoriously an ugly city. Some people called TO the 'slab' because its all concrete and and no green. Its a mash. But there is good food. You could tell Bourdain didnt think much of it. He's big on Vancouver and Montreal.
