Yes, and I have a $1000 unpaid ticket in LA because of it. Started out at $100 and some change but they didn't mail anything to me and by the time I called them to ask about it (because the cop said they would mail it), it was up to $1000 due to late fees or whatever BS they wrapped around it!!!!! The guy with me who also got a ticket received his in the mail. I was leaving the country in a few days and they were unwilling to work with me, so I left. I'm guessing I'll have to deal with it next time I go back to the States.

Spend a few days driving around in Vegas or LA and experience Mexicans just randomly bolting out into 65mph traffic with no warning and you'll soon support jaywalking laws.

A friend and I were crossing the street around 3:00 AM in downtown Seattle during my college years (worked at a move theater and just got off work). We looked both ways, not a car in sight, so we crossed.

Bike cops (a supposed "gang unit") jumped us, drew their guns and frisked us.

You never can be too careful with those jaywalkers.

Those guys don't tie up their shoes and blow bubbles with their gum - so be careful.

Pedestrians have priority a lot of the time here anyway so I don't think jaywalking as a crime exists. Only roads you aren't allowed to walk about on are motorways.
