The concept itself provides a great opportunity to lure mainstream traffic 11 months out of the year. If executed properly, and approached as a brand building project, it's something that could not only grow via the ways typical of adult sites, but also by word of mouth and mainstream press mentions.
For example, I did the World Cup of Porn on a whim as my first site in late May and was able to get 75K hits throughout the tournament. Having a bit more experience now, I know that Champions League Porn could best those numbers if done properly, I just don't have the time to do it.
