wordpress 3.0.2: mandatory upgrade

Just moments ago, WordPress 3.0.2 was released to the public. This version is a mandatory security upgrade. According to the release notes

Quote:

This maintenance release fixes a moderate security issue that could allow a malicious Author-level user to gain further access to the site, addresses a handful of bugs, and provides some additional security enhancements

just uploaded wordpress to like 10 sites

time to unload them

do i have to upgrade all of my sites? all of them even if i dont allow user registrations? isnt that set to off by default?

tabasco 11-30-2010 06:42 PM

Fuck this, I'll wait a bit. Takes all day to do these updates on so many sites... I don't trust any auto-updating on my handwritten blogs.

if you have registeations turned off, you should be fine.

all my blogs have registrations turned off, no other authors but myself...does that mean my 3.0.1 installs are safe?

Hey fris, any way to update several WP blogs at a time? I've been thinking of doing a WP MU install but it's not the best solution.

CYF 11-30-2010 07:24 PM

well I'm all updated :thumbsup

few ways, via svn, or with an app, wpautoinstaller manages all your installs from 1 interface, so you can upgrade or downgrade.

fris, does the one click upgrade from multi-site work sitewide? Should i be worried about clicking the upgrade button?

icymelon 12-01-2010 12:33 AM

good times. another update

Hentaikid 12-01-2010 05:54 AM

Open reg multi author blogs are a bad idea anyway, invite people if you must, but don't let them register, you'll just end up with spam

Thanks very much for the heads up, Fris!

Fris turned me on tgo the new multisites setup and with domain mapping it works pretty well.

all of my upgrades went w/o a hitch.
This upgrade does do a database upgrade so be sure you do a back up of your current DB just in case...as you should anyway.

I run all my wordpress sites from one install so that it only takes one upgrade and there all done!

Thanks for the heads up. It is times like these that I wish I only had a handful of blogs lol

MrBottomTooth 12-01-2010 07:36 PM

Does this only affect you if you allow other people to register and make actual posts?

Or does it also affect you if you allow people to register to post comments only?

edit: Sounds like it's just for multi-author blogs.
