AZ Cardinals QB Derek Anderson goes off on a reporter last night

During the game he and a teammate were caught on tape laughing it up on the sidelines while their team was down 18 points to the 49'ers. Later a reporter had the audacity to ask him what was so funny, here's how he reacted...

Thoughts?

Personally when I watch that all I can think is the guy is a fucking idiot (Anderson, not the reporter).

100% correct.

But in this case I think it's a legitimate question. Even the announcers during the game remarked about the laughing, and about how fans might react if they happen to have seen it.

Maybe they were just having a normal conversation and laughing about it because they know the truth of the matter; It's just a fucking football game, not the United Nations Security Council.

They were probably laughing because they get paid big bucks, even when they suck and lose

What the fuck else is he supposed to do or act? Act all moody and depressed and show the team that there's no hope and that they should all be depressed and expect nothing to happen next offensive round or to try and enjoy the game? To not try to raise moral in hopes of getting something going than another three and out? T

IMO finding something cheerful and keeping spirits up in that situation is a positive thing. Fuck the sports media. Bunch of con-descending assholes all of them.
Even when teams win they work to cause drama and problems.
He reacted fine in my view. Ask a dickhead question get a dickhead response.

You're right, it shouldn't be a big deal. What makes it such a big deal is him reacting to the question like he did. Had he just answered like a professional and with some class and poise I'm sure the question would have been considered asked-and-answered and forgotten. But now it's going to be talked about all week across every sports newscast in the universe.

I have to ask myself at times like these, what would Kurt Warner do? I'm pretty sure the answer to that is that Kurt Warner wouldn't have been having a chucklefest on the sidelines of a game he was losing badly, period. But I doubt he'd have reacted to the question badly either.

This kid has a lot to learn.

Tends to happen when you've now set yourself up to be a backup QB for the rest of your career b/c you can't pass for shit in the big leagues and rally your team back.

He did answer it though. His first response to the question was that what he talks about is private. Heck the reporter even set it a;; up by saying he didn't mean to come of sarcastic, that he sees Anderson was trying to remain positive, etc. The reporter set out to attack Anderson's character and prowess as a player and he got a reaction out of him.
Anderson knows his days as the 1st QB are numbered and thats why he overreacted the way he did.

I think Warner would have chuckled with Deuce if he was in Anderson's exact position. I mean seriously, what do you expect players to do when they're losing? Always act sad and depressed and not try to keep their moral up?

a football game they are getting millions a year to play.

If a CEO of a company just found out that their profits are down 30% and they need to shut down some locations and he is laughing... do you think general public would take well to that either ?

Its not that football (to some or most people) is really important in the big scheme of things, but if you the person employed at that position and making millions to do it, when you doing really bad its not wise to laugh and cut up like you don't care, unless you really don't because that shit will get you fired. Although in his case, he has to know he is done with that team and his career anyways, so i guess he doesn't care. He is done.
