“This email isn’t going to be as polished as I would normally send, but I’m upset and I don’t want what happened to me to happen to anyone else (if I can stop it).
I recently traveled via air, and was subjected to that new scanning device. “No problem,” I thought. I was wearing jeans and a linen tanktop, bra, panties, and one camouflage pantyliner.

I’m a rule follower, so I never have any problems at the airport. Not this time. I was stopped, and then held for 15 minutes while they tried to find a female supervisor. I couldn’t get to my bag, my shawl or my shoes; just standing there while the TSA agents kept me in one place.

Now, I don’t want this to be about bad TSA agents; they were doing their job, they were as delicate as they could be, etc., etc. But what ultimately happened is that I was subjected to search so invasive that I was left crying and dealing with memories that I thought had been dealt with years ago of prior sexual assaults.

Why?

Because of my flannel panty-liner. These new scans are so horrible that if you are wearing something unusual (like a piece of cloth on your panties) then you will be subjected to a search where a woman repeatedly has to check your “groin” while another woman watches on (two in my case – they were training in a new girl – awesome).

So please, please, tell the ladies not to wear their liners at the airport (I didn’t even have an insert in). I’m a strong, confident woman; I’m an Army vet (which is why those camo liners crack me up), I work full-time and go to graduate school full-time, I have a wonderful husband, and I don’t take any nonsense from anyone. I don’t dramatize, and I don’t exaggerate. I’m trying to give you a sense of who I am so you won’t think that this is a plea for attention, or a jumping on the bandwagon about the recent TSA proposed boycott.

I just don’t want another woman to have to go through the “patting down” because she didn’t know that her glad-rag would be a matter of national security.”

Or when your boyfriend has a mullet...

You should actually research where stories come from. Prison planet is the worst when it comes to this kind of thing, it regularly uses parody or unsourced and unverifiable material that confirms their suspicions. The feminist peace network? The first link on that page is full of ignorant shit about radiation and they seem to think scanners can look inside the body = sub retarded. That story comes from a company that PRODUCES panty liners and is asking people to buy their product and wear them through scanners as a protest! What person writes to their tampon/panty liner company after going through a scanner? I love conspiracy people that aren't sceptical about information that confirms their biases. Normally they'd look at the story and wonder why she made a point about it being flannel and camo coloured to the company that makes them and then giving it a plug by name in the email.
How many women are on their rag at any one time? If you think they're stopping 7% of all travellers or haven't learnt what a tampon or pad looks like IF THEY CAN EVEN SEE IT (not confirmed) you're fucking crazy.

New York Times OK?

The NYTimes ran with this story that your thread is about did it? Oh no, thats right they didn't, because it's hearsay from a company pushing a product. You think an unquoted comment in that NYT article in any way confirms this story?? What do his comments cover, do you know? Backscatter or mmwave scanners? With the mmwave scans that were leaked you could barely tell they were humans. Aside from having absolutely no information, you think whether or not they can see panty liners was in any way anything more than the least important part of my criticism?

True story or not, I don't give a shit. The TSA searches are complete horseshit, you are just using obfuscation to ignore the other dozens of cases similar to this going on daily.

tough fucking luck, they got them in, you've got to deal with them for life now. no amount of complaining will change it. if you don't like it, blow up a security lineup at the airport. you'll probably kill just as many as if you actually made it onto the plane.

As the shooters here probably know, statistically, it is likely that 25% of the women in any random group will be bleeding at any given time.

If the group is not random and consists of women who spend a lot of time in physical proximity, then the odds are still 25% that someone will be bleeding. But nearly either everyone in the group will be or nearly no one will be.
