How long does it take to recover from Thanksgiving? A few minutes?

We had a huge Thanksgiving feast, had "pie problems" so I ended up at Wal Mart at 9pm hunting for pie, problem solved, went to bed at 11pm, woke up at 7am.

Why do I need a recovery period?
