Bush got the bills he wanted passed, intact and the way he wanted them, without a super majority. So if a man as dumb as Bush can fool so many democrats, including leading democrats, into voting for his agenda, what does that say about the Democratic party and the failure of Obama?

If he's so damn smart why does he need a teleprompter?

Shall I post some of his gaffs without one, he even needed a one to speak to a sixth grade class!

And Obama didn't get the legislation he wanted passed?

If that's the case, then what is everyone complaining about? How can Obama possibly have ruined the US, when he's not even capable of getting legislation passed to push his agenda forward?

Obama did not get what he wanted passed, he got piles of shit passed. Claiming Republicans were stopping him from do what he really wanted.

If you do not understand the difference between "getting bills passed", "getting good bills passed" and "getting what he wanted passed" I dont know what to say.

Ok, so you're proud with Bush because he was capable of pushing through legislation, exactly how he wanted it. It was either Bush's way, or nothing, and he got the job done. Then you're disappointed with Obama's ability to do the same.

So the leader of the free world being open to negotiation & compromise is a bad thing in your mind? Huh?

Coup 11-25-2010 05:55 PM

Haha what a dumb ass. doesn't he know memorizing massive speeches is the first order of business for the leader of the freeworld.

You are missing the point completely. Never said I was proud of Bush. Just asking the question, if you think Bush is stupid, and Bush was able to fool democrats, what does that make democrats? And if Obama is unable to pass legislation worth two shits, with super majority with NO NEED to compromise (he can do what he feels is good for America), then when he does compromise is totally rejected by the opposing party, what does that make him?

the two things aren't related, bush was a puppet ,thats pretty obvious so you might as well say republicans instead of bush. from your question the obvious answer is democrats were bipartisan when it was for the good of the country and the republicans haven't been.

if theres a village of 3 people , me you and henry, and the first year we elect you as leader , we all share, everything goes good but not great , the next year we vote me as leader and you get all pissy and wont work and we have a shitty year, one could say i failed or one could argue you caused the failure.

not saying thats what happened , but the outcome could have many reasons

That is funny

To all the posters that think it's fine he overuses a teleprompter.
He is a Harvard educated lawyer and professor. None of the professors I had in college used teleprompters.
They were expected to be well versed on their subjects and were very capable of giving a 90 minute lecture with a few pages of notes.

Using a teleprompter for every word he says makes President Obama look simple. Not a trait that I think is good for the leader of the free world.

stocktrader23 11-25-2010 08:43 PM

Really, are we back to the retarded teleprompter argument?

Obama is smarter than probably everyone in this thread. Your attempts at making him look stupid are hilarious. You mention him being a Harvard grad and lawyer in the same sentence that you claim he must be dumb? :1orglaugh

I said he looked simple over using one. I don't know how intelligent he is. I suspect most of the people I know can read,so that is not an indicator of their IQ's

The pastor at any church can speak for at least 20 minutes giving a sermon. As I said, none of my college professors used one. And some of my engineering profs could talk in great detail for well over an hour without using any notes.

Why does the leader of the free world use one all the time?

Seriously dude, don't try so hard. He went to Harvard, is a lawyer and managed to get elected while black. Nobody would claim that he is anything short of highly intelligent with a straight face.

He only got into Harvard because of affirmative action.
Affirmative action can get you in but it can't make you smart.

In other words there is no obvious reason for him to use one. I have known *highly intelligent* people that couldn't project or lead. One of the things that I notice about President Obama is his need to ponder decisions.
Maybe some of the GFY psychoanalysts can explain what the problem is.

I can't remember my own age sometimes, or why I entered a room to look for something. Big deal. It's called getting old and / or being under stress.

I don't follow politics, I don't care who is president or what's going on for the most part - mostly because I haven't gotten involved enough to really understand it... BUT -

If you guys have as much shit going on as the POTUS, you'd probably need a teleprompter too to not mix up too much of the information. Imagine having to give speeches and lead conferences at least once a day, sometimes in front of the nation, and having a short time to prepare.

Correct - college professors don't use prompters, BUT they are teaching specific information about a specific field over and over. Presidents have to deal with EVERYTHING going on in the nation on some scale.

that is most rational people think, yes. but large swaths of the US population are unable to even grasp that simple fact. thank god china is taking the reins of the world order away from the US.

Why can't he read from his notes like every other president? I would not expect him to memorize everything.

The point is if hes so smart and apparently has the highest IQ of any US president why does he need the teleprompter?

You are right on the first, his name is not Wiiliam Gates.
Wiiliam Gates = Microsoft founder.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is most likely a Republican as he has served in 2 Republican Administrations and was one of the only holdovers from Bush.

Have you ever sat somewhere and watched someone make an announcement or give a speech?

If you haven't, you tend to take someone more seriously if they are making eye contact with the crowd opposed to reading from notes. It's also easier to hear them if they're looking up or talking into the mic instead of talking into your chest.

Just playing devil's advocate.
