Anyone See The Real Madrid Red Cards The Other Night??

The 2 red cards for Alonso and Ramos of Real Madrid in their Champions League game against Ajax.

Real were winning 4 - 0, when both players started time wasting. The referee sends both players off. Weird they would time waste when winning 4 - 0. Or is it?

Both players were only 1 booking each away from missing a game in the later stages of the competition, so getting send off in this match meant they only missed the last meaningless group game. Smart move by Jose Mourinho, or was it ?? UEFA are still deciding what punishment if any to give to Real Madrid and indeed the 2 players involved.

Gotta hand it to Mourinho though, he's a sneaky fucker! :1orglaugh

(apologies if already been discussed)

Were those both straight reds? I'm not too familiar with all the intricacies of soccer rules, but if they hadn't already gotten yellow cards, it would seem like a yellow card offense wouldn't it? It's as if the ref knew what they wanted to do and accommodated them.

No that was 2nd yellow cards for both players. 2 yellows = Red.

The ref probably had no idea this was their plan. To be honest, in all my years watching football, i've never seen anything like it, hehe...

lol - has happened way back in germany but at that time the coach was too stupid and admitted it right after the game and the player was suspended anyways.

It's not a waste of time. It seems like a planned delay.

I giggled!

Well I kinda burst into laughter the second sending off. Hilarious stuff indeed.

Mourinho is losing his touch.

In the past he would have struck first and complained about a UEFA vendetta against him :)

Both players are begging for cards and obviously wanted them.
It doesn`t look good, but I prefer them delaying time when at 4:0 over some vicious foul play risking another player to get injured over it, just to provoke a yellow card.

It`t the rules that suck.

I agree... they should let everyone start with a clean slate in the knockout phase of the CL, except maybe for players with a straight red card.

Mourinho's a fucking genius, and Chelsea should never have let him go.

if it was another team doing that=definitely punishment, since it's Real nothing will happen
