Anybody seen the Russell Crowe flick "Master & Commander"?

Worth watching on DVD? I found out about it because it features music by Luigi Bocherinni. The same composer behind this classic:

Yep def worth watching on DVD. The books are great, too.

He is very good in it. One of the few movies I have watched more than once.

Seen it a few times and yes it is a good movie, one of the few movies Russ has done that really suits him the whole Captain routine and that.

I love that movie. Mental note to self to put the books on my xmas list this year. :thumbsup

It was nominated for an academy award but that was another LOTR year so the odds were obviously stacked against it...

Honestly one of my favorite movies ever. Something about it. Very well done, and really puts you in the era and takes you on a great journey. Watched it a few times :) Heard they were thinking about a sequel still, hopefully it eventuates.

Hiring on DVD it's no brainer. Not an absolutely fantastic movie, but more than worth it.

Just got finished watching. I highly recommend this. Excellent movie. Great acting. Great story. Superb cinematography. I'm surprised there aren't more movies made out of the books this movie was based on.

Actually the composer whose music you mentioned was a very good choice to. It did pretty well at the box office, but had a massive budget and didn't really deliver significant returns I guess. A shame, but still I am sure there will be a sequel or, complete new attempts at it in the future. The books are great.

Yes, worth watching.

The movie was taken from the first three books of the Aubrey-Maturin Series authored by Patrick O'Brian . There's 17 more to read if you liked it. It's an excellent series right through to the end.

Caught it on cable late last Saturday. Thought it was a decent flick. :thumbsup

While watching, it really made me think about what life was REALLY like on those ships back in the day.

yes, worth the time....

SGS 11-25-2010 02:46 AM

Very good film and Russell Crowe at his best I thought.

Never got around watching it completely, it sure reminds me of a sinking love "relationship" (non-relationship)...
