Watched a 3D TV for a first time in my life

...and it was awesome. Damn! I watched for like 2-3 minutes, but the picture was unreal - as soon as there are enough 3d channels, I am so buying one of these.

yep It's pretty nice, I'll wait till you can skip the glasses though.

yeah, about the glasses - the blond chick that was selling this tv (some promo in the mall -> tv + play station + digital camera and some other crap) said that the glasses cost $140. Poor Mormons will have to spend a fortune on glasses alone....

How wide is the viewing angle, i'm sure I read something that said +/- 20° and the effect is lost?

CaptainHowdy 11-23-2010 05:44 AM

Toshiba had already announced one without glasses:

Didn't know that otherwise I would've checked - I only stood directly in front of the TV; it was a Sony - $2150 for so for the TV with all the freebies thrown in and the glasses sold separately

Any more than a couple minutes of 3D TV and I get a headache

Steve Awesome 11-23-2010 07:14 AM

By next Christmas they will be selling these with either the cheap polarized glasses (like at the theater) or no glasses at all.

Chris 11-23-2010 08:02 AM

They're coming out with games in 3D as well. The recent Call of Duty Black Ops is available in 3D.

It would be silly to have a 3D tv as your only tv at this time.

The most practical use would be as a second tv in a bedroom, den or man cave.

Entertain your guests with a normal TV in a room you would normally have guests.

I love 3D. Got mye eyes on a Samsung 63" 3D TV. Cost about $3800 here incl. 2 pair of glasses and some other stuff. Sooooo sweet!
