Serving ads from a different sub domain - question
 

I always serve my ads from ads.domain.com and run them across all my sites. However, I read a thread here that I can not find now that says ad blockers may be blocking those ads based on the "ads" sub domain.

What's the skinny on this? If it is true, what is the best way to get around that and still run all your banners from one domain?

I've tried all the ad blockers I can find and they still show up, but I may be overlooking something.

There might be some ad blockers that filter any domains/subdomains that contain ad/ads/banner/banners etc. Just to be sure you could use another (random) subdomain. Wouldn't hurt for sure.

I found my ad blocker (which I have switched off) blocks images in standard banner sizes that come from a seperate domain. For example an image 468x60 that is placed on abc.com but is hosted on xyz.com generally got blocked. Ragardless of what words are in the path.

Obviously all ad-blockers are different though.

A lot of ad blockers and personal firewalls with ad filter filter out images with words like ads or banner in the url.

So just use the word image instead of ads....

Might also wanna fuck with freeloaders that run adblockers and put your sample content in an /ads/ folder....

Yep. I just installed AdBlocker PLUS on FF and it blocks my ads AND my webcam iframe. Hmmmmm.

Anyone know a way around this?

Do you know if it's looking for a script that is serving the banner, or just images that are sized to be banners?

On the other hand, AdBlock PLUS blocks EVERY tube sites ads that I am visiting. Not one of them are getting banners served.

the best thing is to create some subdomain for example saljsadas.domain.com so you can go around "default" settings in those blockers. . . anyways who want to block your banner will block it anyway..
