just be glad you don't live abroad and still have to pay US taxes. We get an automatic extension until June to do them but it is a bitch getting forms and I have had to deal with an account in the States which is even more of a pain.

kocur26 01-13-2003 11:56 PM

Taxes? You mean we have to pay taxes on this money???

Paying taxes is no fun for sure, but it's part of what you get for either being an American citizen or for being a foreign owner of an America corp.

What do you get in exchange for your taxes? Well while i may consider corp tax aka double taxation to be quite wrong... if you are benefiting from the legal benefits of this country, you owe to pay part of it. JMHO.

HomerFromTheBlock 01-14-2003 12:49 AM

Now for some reason no companies sent W2 forms last year.... I still payed taxes for the money I recieved.. well it was an estimation. Did anybody else have this problem?

Oh yeah... made a shitload more money this year and have saved none of it for taxes...... Homer=fucked up the arse.

picindex 01-14-2003 01:06 AM

I'm pretty fucked too... My tax guy usually gets me a few extensions until we can figure something out... then all we have to do is expense everything out. Of course I do not do it as I go so I have to go through a stack of receipts and shit in the new couple of months.

This year I actually made some pretty good money too (sold a few businesses).

Fucking sucks :BangBang:

Sarah_Jayne 01-14-2003 03:56 AM

oh, I have no trouble paying my taxes I just wish they wouldn't make it so difficult for me to get the forms.

WORD

Carrie 01-14-2003 04:08 AM

Start now for next year. It's *simple* to do this, and a lot easier than going through receipts after a year.
Get one of those expandable folders at Wal-Mart.
Label them Jan-Dec.
When you buy content, traffic, etc - anything - put the receipt in that month's slot.
When you get a check, paypal payment (print it out), etc - put the stub/printout in that month's slot.

When you get your forms from the sponsors next year (assuming you made more than $600 from each of them), take those and the folder to your accountant (or the HR Block tax guy, hehe). Or just sit down with coffee and a calculator and do it yourself.

It takes 2 seconds to put it into a folder.
It takes 2 weeks to find it a year later if you didn't put it in the folder.

BJ 01-14-2003 04:29 AM

already paid up for 2002. good feeling.

sweetcuties 01-14-2003 04:43 AM

Holy shit, in a few hours I've got an appointment and I'm curious to see what I owe. I was under 500k gross with expenses... should be interesting :2 cents:

BV 01-14-2003 05:18 AM

If congress passes Bush's new tax plan we all should be happier next year about this time. :-)

(crossing fingers)

theking 01-14-2003 06:11 AM

I received a letter from the IRS yesterday and I was just now re-reading it. The IRS says that I owe them money. I will not state the amount other than to say it is a substantial amount. I am going to give my accountant a Xmas gift today by calling him and informing him that I will no longer have any need of his services. If this seems to be premature on my part without allowing him to go over the records in an effort to prove the IRS wrong, it isn't. I have had this problem more than once using this accountant. He is, maybe was a friend, or I would have dismissed him prior to this. I will have someone else go over my records and see what they come up with, but if past history repeats itself, I will have to pay the IRS. It will really be no more than an irritant to pay them as I have the money, but it is a definite irritant. In fact I am somewhat pissed. Merry fucking Xmas to my accountant and the crew at the IRS.

I posted the above a couple of days before Xmas.

Jakke PNG 01-14-2003 06:36 AM

I don't make any money.
really.

You should have rolled that money into a new property, then after 3 years you wouldnt have owed any of it anyways.

x-vision 01-14-2003 12:43 PM

Got my tax bill a couple weeks ago from my accountant. Even after he did what he could, I still sat with my mouth wide open staring at the number for a good 20 minutes.

I guess it would be worse if we didn't have a good year and didn't owe all that money, but when you're looking at a high six figure tax bill, it's pretty damn depressing.:eek2

Oh, We only have to pay on about 70k or so of the total because of the difference in the property from the time we received it and all the repairs etc . We going to take the tax loss now cause we are going to add on to our current home and it will add another 200 to 300 k to the market value of the house.

We really did not want to be landlords again and reinvest . :)

rowan 01-14-2003 12:54 PM

In Australia the financial year is July 1st to June 30th the next year... I take it the USA is Jan-Dec?

I have a tax debt from last year that I'm still paying back (at 14% interest) and on top of that I have to pay 'advance tax' every quarter. After I've cleared up the debt it won't be so bad, since it's really just tax on my earnings for that quarter. I deposit my estimated tax for the next quarter into a 4.75% interest bank account as early as possible, so I make some interest from it at least.

matty 01-14-2003 12:58 PM

yeah the fiscal period is Jan 1st - Dec 30th, money due on the 15th of April

matty 01-14-2003 01:11 PM

wow you guys pushin 5mil a year should donate little me a few TGP listings, thats all i need... I try so hard to get listed into TGP's and no-one ever accepts me SHEMP, GREENGUY, HUN, and everyone else ;(

UncleJimmy 01-14-2003 01:14 PM

I got a letter from the IRS the week before Xmas for last year's tax bill that I haven't paid, it's rather substantial so they said they wouldn't take payments and if I don't cough up XX_k to them by April they put a lien on the house ;)

Lovely situation since biz went to shit on me about 4 months ago HAHA....
