Is life getting easier or harder the older you get?

Sure, hopefully as we get older we have more money but we perhaps also have more responsibilties too. Has it gotten easier or harder for you as the years have marched on?

rogueteens 11-17-2010 07:02 PM

Harder. You begin to realise just how much of a grid living is, what with taxes, red tape, general injustices and other people getting in your way.

MaDalton 11-17-2010 07:03 PM

easier cause i know how to handle situations better now.

Amputate Your Head 11-17-2010 07:10 PM

a bit of both....

it is definitely harder, but i care much less about unimportant shit. :2 cents:

Sarah_Jayne 11-17-2010 07:14 PM

I think the older I get the more I understand the gravity of some decissions that need to be made. I am not sure if that makes it easier or harder but perhaps a bit more intense at times.

CaptainHowdy 11-17-2010 07:17 PM

Life is getting lifer for me...

Grapesoda 11-17-2010 07:24 PM

I have very many more responsibilities, and bills now, however I find it easier to make decision that are effective and profitable AND I enjoy my friends much more now as well... something special about 30+ year friendships...

baddog 11-17-2010 07:26 PM

Much easier. But then again, my kids are grown now.

fatfoo 11-17-2010 07:33 PM

It depends on how heavy a load you are carrying and how comfortable you are.

harder for sure... until you reach a peak, then it probably gets better, but I doubt it ever gets back to the childhood level...

Sly 11-17-2010 08:33 PM

Neither. Just different.

Lester Burnham 11-17-2010 08:41 PM

Harder.

I remember how I wanted to get out of college and grad school so bad, and now, I'm thinking, "WTF was I thinking...those were the most easy going times of my life!" Living off of financial aid (paying it back until I die LOL), getting laid regularly, "stress" comprising of having to wake up "early" at 10:00 AM to go to class, and partying every night.

Now its bills, relationship drama, health, money, etc., etc.

Definitely harder with age (until you retire and live on easy street).

Spunky 11-17-2010 08:48 PM

Seems to be harder, damn whipper snappers can't keep up

BIGTYMER 11-17-2010 08:48 PM

Easier without doubt.

dropped9 11-17-2010 09:08 PM

Harder. Kids, house, shit never stops piling up. I wish I could rewind a few years.

Redrob 11-17-2010 09:26 PM

Time seems to go by faster and I seem to have more on my "things to do list."

Also, I notice that I am now going to as many funerals as weddings for my friends.

Both parents are long gone and people refer to you as the patriarch of the family.

You get tired a little easier; but, I can still out perform most people I know.

oscer 11-17-2010 09:35 PM

Its moving along just fine!

BigPapa 11-17-2010 09:57 PM

Nothing beats being a kid. Sure there is a heck of a lot more on my plate now but that's just a part of growing up.

Now I am going grey, need glasses to drive, I waking up with a different pain everyday and so on but deep down inside, I still think I am a kid. (with three of my own)

when you wake up and it doesn't hurt... you're dead

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 11-17-2010 10:08 PM

I'd say it's getting easier, mostly due to the fact that i simply care less and less about retarded useless shit.

Absolutely.

Easier in that I've learned what triggers stress in my life and have eliminated much of it,

but

harder, in that due to physical ailments I simply can't do the things I could do in my 20's and 30's. All the hockey and kickboxing are well behind me, all the carpentry and renovation work, and the some-15 years of hospital work as well.

But the good news is I can afford to pay someone else to do all that "work" I can no longer do myself.
Just hired a new handyman in fact.

Thinking about getting a new maid.

CYF 11-17-2010 10:16 PM

doesn't seem harder much, just different.

PornMD 11-17-2010 10:35 PM

I guess it depends on how you grew up. When I was younger I didn't really have to give a shit about anything, and being really smart, I didn't have to study for school, so pretty much played all the time. Not the best setup for adult life unfortunately. :/

Yeah, that's true :))

Paul Markham 11-18-2010 04:10 AM

Much easier. Mortgage paid, 1 kid grown and off my hands, the other I enjoy much more and even helping her with her homework is fun.

Does help having a young wife who does a lot of the tough stuff. LOL

Altwebdesign 11-18-2010 06:11 AM

50/50 i got it quite easy now, most people my age have girlfriends/wives and kids and their own place, i dont, so im pretty stress free, one of my most stressful things is what time to go out partying saturday night

u-Bob 11-18-2010 06:47 AM

Easier. cuz we learn from experience.... well, at least most of us do :)

Agent 488 11-18-2010 06:50 AM

the problems when. you are older are more serious - health, family, illness. blah.

Shotoku 11-18-2010 06:50 AM

Somethings get easier, somethings get harder.

HEAT 11-18-2010 06:59 AM

Both.
My uncle is a millionaire. But he receives hemodialysis 3 time a week for diabetes.
Pay careful attention to your health when you pass 40.

If you're smart you start paying attention once you pass 25, especially if there's a family history. Just so you don't get a big surprise when you turn 40 and do start paying attention. :2 cents:

Yeah I'm paying careful attention since I have a family history. Thankfully me and my father are ok so far.

That's so true, the experience we get through the years boils down to concentrating in this things that we care and NOT concentrating in the things that are unimportant.

Stephen 11-18-2010 09:58 AM

Both.

While I am far more comfortable at this point, I am at heart an adventurer, that success has partially stagnated. Winter is already settling in here in the mountains, so I'll hunker down for now, but I am chomping at the bit for fun -- and getting close to the big "50" -- fun isn't a "some day" thing.

Boredom is harder (and much more expensive) to solve when you are older...

blazin 11-18-2010 10:01 AM

Easier.... the kids mow the lawn and put stuff away in the loft, etc. It's cool having teenage boys around. :)
