    i hate icq.

    there is a banner that plays a stupid 'shaft' song and it's been driving me nuts for days

    i have just figured out what was making the stupid sound, and misery loves company.

    how do i permanently disable this POS? thanks

                      I use a program called QIP Infium (http://www.qip.ru) it is very stable. I got it back when they had an english language version of the site but now it is all in Russian. There are no advertisements and they have a pretty cool spam blocker thing where a person who is not on your contact list will have to answer a question before you see the message

                                          This is why I am refusing to let ICQ "upgrade" me past 6.5 build 1042. I have all the banners removed, all the bullshit removed, able to resize my message window etc.. As soon as they "upgrade" this, it'll be a huge pile of shit once again.

                                              you can set it all up again
                                              i actually have a pretty neat ICQ7 set up

                                              used the banner removal tool, and changed the weird looking icons next to contacts. it's pretty good.
