What are the best and worst airlines you have flown?

We have a lot of travellers here. What airline have been the best and worst airlines you have flown? For me the worst is easier than the best. I have never been impressed by Air France any of the times I have had to fly them. The best is more difficult but British Airways used to be good...not so much these days.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 11-15-2010 12:12 AM

Worst, Air Canada. Boooooooooo. Crooks...

scubadiver626 11-15-2010 02:10 AM

Japan Airlines, amazing.

Philippines Airlines, business class: broken tv's, ripped cushions on one plane. totally upgraded on another.

Virgin, awesome.

Forest says, Flyings like a box of chocolates...

Jon Oso 11-15-2010 02:27 AM

I fly about once a year and I get super pissed when I can't get a first class seat on a flight because the airline doesn't offer first class.

Not that I'm super ballin' or anything but it's worth the extra money to me to be able to feel my legs (I'm 6'5") when I get off the plane. Also people usually don't bring their babies in first.

And they usually shower.

I was fine flying America West before they were bought by continental because I flew free and had free upgrades but now I just book whatever has the departure dates I want and bitch the whole time

v4 media 11-15-2010 02:30 AM

Worst KLM because they've poisoned me twice.
Best for me, Iberia because for some reason they usually upgrade me.

TCLGirls 11-15-2010 02:31 AM

Pretend you're disabled, you will usually get upgraded to first class for free ;)

scubadiver626 11-15-2010 02:33 AM

Singapore airlines, one of the worlds best as well!

Airport is just as amazing, a vacation in itself Changii.

ThumbLord 11-15-2010 02:52 AM

Singapore Airlines probably the best.
SAL probably the worst.

Never seen that happen before.

I hate flying on Ryanair, every conversation with their staff is a fight and the whole experience is slightly lower rated than travelling on a bus. However, the boss of Ryanair says some priceless things....
Quote:

I'm disrespectful towards authority. Like I think the prime minister of Ireland is a gobshite.

Screw the share price, this is a fare war.

The problem with the airline business is it is mostly run by a bunch of spinless nincompoops who acually don't want to stand up to the environmentalists and call them the lying wankers that they are.

For years flying has been the preserve of rich fuckers. Now everyone can afford to fly.

Screw the travel agent. Take the fuckers out and shoot them. What have they done for passengers over the years?

We don't fall all over ourselves if they... say my granny fell ill. What part of no refund don't you understand? You are not getting a refund so fuck off.

Weber says Germans don't like low fares. How the fuck does he know? He's never offered them any. The Germans will crawl bollock-naked over broken glass to get them.

(On Jurgen Weber, Lufthansa's chief executive.)

There is too much: "we really admire our competitors". All bollocks. Everyone wants to kick the shit out of everyone else. We want to beat the crap out of BA. They mean to kick the crap out of us.

Every idiot who gets fired in the industry shows up as a consultant somewhere. Shoot consultants and advertising agency specialists. (also applies to porn)

We want to annoy the fuckers whenever we can. The best thing we can do with environmentalists is shoot them. These headbangers want to make air travel the preserve of the rich. They are Luddites marching us back to the 18th century.

The message to Boeing today is: ?You keep building them, we?ll keep buying them?, and together both of us will kick the crap out of Airbus in Europe. We love Boeing. **** the French.

BJ 11-15-2010 03:36 AM

Singapore airlines.

a little story. I fly frequently from Hong kong to San Fran and back in their business class. The flight back to hong kong is a red eye and this one particular flight I was exhausted to the point that I barely made it on the plane. I immediately fell asleep in the upright position. The business class seats require you to get up and fold the back of the chair down into a bed. I woke up 8 hours later, in the bed, all tuckered in not sure how I got there. They really take care of you.

United, on the other hand is shit, even in the business class which they recently updated to full beds, but the 55 yr old hags they have working make it a negative experience. Just give me a johnie walker bitch and STFU.

BJ 11-15-2010 03:38 AM

Air Asia and Silk Air also very good on the low cost side, all hot chicks. Get the exit row as the stewardesses use 1 of the seats during takeoff and landing.

I'm doing 70% success rate. You have to request assistance at the ticket counter. I always say I injured my foot playing football. They call up some clerk to help me carry my carry-on luggage. If the terminal is far away they also give me a free ride on those little electric powered carts :) Plus I go straight to the front of the line for security checks and boarding the plane. This works mostly for my international flights. Never worked for me domestic, but thats because i usually fly southwest...they dont have classes.

I flew to the US one year after I had busted my knee. While there it got so bad I had to go to the hospital and get it strapped up. The British Airways stewardesses saw I had a problem bending it on the flight to the US and upgraded me to First Class form Business class, on the flight to NY. On the flight to LA they didn't care and I paid the extra to go First Class on the US Airline. It was nothing like first class and just a bigger seat with more leg room and free drinks.

If you've ever flown First Class on BA you'll know what style is.

The worse has to be Aeroflot. I swear it was a converted bomber. :1orglaugh

The service sucked and the food even worse.

adwank 11-15-2010 04:54 AM

American Airlines is the best one I've flown and Iberia is the worst one...

CurrentlySober 11-15-2010 04:59 AM

Best - Virgin Atlantic. Got bumped from Biz class to 1st class on 2 separate occasions - London to LAX :) NICE !

Worst? Probably the internal airline that lost my bags between LAX and Tampa... Possibly South West, but I cant remember te name... So long ago now lol

Oracle Porn 11-15-2010 05:09 AM

AA Sucks
BA So So
EL AL - One of the best, they even have a tv with a special remote you can play games with and also watch video on demand for free

xato 11-15-2010 05:12 AM

Best: Emirates
Worst: Delta - they lost my bags and were unable to track or find it.

ottopottomouse 11-15-2010 06:01 AM

Best was British Airways as an unaccompanied child aged 13. Pretty much got my own stewardess for the whole flight.

Sweet, I'll have to try that. Does it work better if you fake limp?

kristin 11-15-2010 09:02 AM

Southwest and Virgin for the best.

Haven't flown international much so can't really say there.

Worst is US Airways and Continental.

I will fly Air Tran for the first time Saturday, so we'll see how that goes. Although they were bought out by Southwest. I can't wait for this whole thing to happen, Southwest will open to DC Dulles Intl and Atlanta as well as service the Caribbean. =)

alexchechs 11-15-2010 09:39 AM

The best airline I ever flew was Lufthansa business class from JFK(nyc) to Frankfurt Germany. I never had such a nice experience and a trip that went so smooth. Worst has to be Delta domestic

Black All Through 11-15-2010 09:40 AM

Best: Jal
Worst: Iberia

SGS 11-15-2010 09:42 AM

Best: Emirates so far...

Worst: Some Portuguese chicken shed with wings after our BA flight broke down in 1988.

Intrinsic 11-15-2010 09:48 AM

Love virgin america / virgin atlantic

GTS Mark 11-15-2010 09:50 AM

US Airways sucks balls, especially if you fly thru Philly.

Only been stuck overnight twice at an airport (and lost my bags twice) both times in Philly :(

Calico Jack 11-15-2010 01:48 PM

Best for me, either Thai International or Cathay Pacific.
Worst, either Garuda (indonesian) or Phillipine Airlines.

Major (Tom) 11-15-2010 04:34 PM

Best: Virgin Atlantic, Swiss Air, Air China

Worst: United, American, Continental, Delta.

Duke

xxweekxx 11-15-2010 05:13 PM

best: virgin atlantic bar none.. their upperclass is amazing.. nothing like a scalp massage on board (yes i got a massage in first class on the airplane :)

their lounge in LHR is incredible.. no doubt the best airline lounge in the world.. anyone that has been there can attest to it

xxweekxx 11-15-2010 05:24 PM

worst: american, delta, continental(economy, their first class is OK)

xxweekxx 11-15-2010 05:29 PM

Richard Branson is one smart mofo:

Virgin Atlantic has announced that it has almost doubled annual profits, just a few days after rival British Airways reported a record loss.

The airline said pre-tax profits soared from £34.8m to £68.4m in the year to February, despite a backdrop of volatile oil prices and the deep recession.

The results contrast with BA's record annual operating loss of £401m, reported last Friday, after its fuel bill reached almost £3bn.

Virgin Atlantic, which is majority owned by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, flew 5.8 million passengers over the period, helped by higher numbers of premium travellers

Wanna know why?

i did a random search for first class from LAX-LHR

British airways: $14,000
Virgin Atlantic upperclass : $3,800

Thats over $10,000 less.lol Granted its not 100% the same, but when u fly Virgin Upperclass its pretty much as good as british airways first class, barring one or two differences.. but a $10k difference??

US Air sucks... but they have that cheap ass 24 hr upgrade to first that I used to be hooked on like crack back when they were America West.

If you can get it it's the cheapest way to go first class (well, I've never faked an injury so I guess not THEE cheapest :disgust).

Seems like the last few years ti's been harder to hit it, first class has been all booked up and some other airlines are offering discount first class upgrades so it's not what it used to be anymore.

I'm surprised so much hate for Air Canada. I used to take them back and forth from Toronto to Tampa alot. Maybe it's just that route but the planes were newer, flights were cheap, lots of leg room, straight shot flight, etc. No complaints.

sojproductions 11-15-2010 05:46 PM

Best = Emirates, always great service, clean and on schedule
Worst = Uzbekistan Airways.... where to begin.... left on the runway in a bus in -10 degrees with the doors wide open and the driver nowhere to be seen for in excess of 2 hours... that was just the start.

Adraco 11-15-2010 05:57 PM

Virgin Atlantic - their London base is outstanding, SAS for their extremely fresh and clean airplanes, Lufthansa on their Frankfurt-New York all business class flight, AA for their massive network and incredible all over performance - you gotta love the Dallas terminal, BA for their Concorde class - once you've flown it you know what superiority and Brittish Aristocracy is all about.

Worst, so many it's not even funny. Northwest when they still flew DC10 accross the Atlantic, Lufthansa economy class, never, never ever set foot onboard a Ryanair plane and never will - they still qualify among the worst, Southwest for their dirty shitty planes and constant ability to lose luggage even on non-stop flights, Air France for their unprofessional stewardesses and their unwillingness to speak English. Oh don't even get me started, I have so many on my no-fly-list. :)

scottybuzz 11-15-2010 06:23 PM

I really like Ryanair for their prices, but thats about it.
Me and my friends when we were 17 used to travel to places for nights out for 0.02p, taxes everything included. I joke you not. That is pretty incredible.
You can still get a cheap weekend away in Europe for about £25.

Of course it all ends after their prices.

blazin 11-15-2010 06:30 PM

Best: Emirates
2nd Best: Virgin

Worst: Air France.

candyflip 11-15-2010 06:30 PM

Aeroflot had to be scariest.

Best would definitely be Virgin.

Chris 11-15-2010 06:32 PM

Worst has to be united for me
best is southwest
cant beat their prices and no luggage fee's ....plus decent inflight entertainment and most flights have wifi :)
