This is by far the most active still out of about 30 remaining adult boards. I had a list of 50 back in 2001, 20 of them have totally gone.

Some are gone because they are out of business. And some of them had new business industry.

I've said this 20 times but nobody cares / will listen.

This board was so massive because it was wide open. Now you can't even read a post in the important sections without registering. This would not be so bad if you could actually get approved in a reasonable amount of time but new members have to email and wait 3 days or blast everyone on ICQ and still wait 3 days. Most people just carry their ass. This is just to read the fucking board!

I know Robbie and many others are always yelling about non industry folks being here but they were the lifeblood of GFY. They saw everyone lying about their stats and posting like they were rich and wanted in this business.

When I used to sell shit here I sold about 20% to board members and 80% to non posters. They were either silent lurkers or found the board through search engines. Since the main sections are closed down this is no longer an option.

Those 'fresh meat' viewers bought content, domains, scripts, design and everything else that was offered for sale here. They also signed up to the affiliate program some sigwhore claimed made him 50k per month. They fed this industry more money and traffic for a long ass time.

Now I'm not saying that there aren't less affiliates than there were but if you want GFY to reclaim some of it's glory days then open this motherfucker up to people that want to get in the industry instead of letting them ignorantly throw up blogs with content they found online to push clicks to some adult PPC program for pennies.

Robbie will bitch, more money will be generated and life will go on. :2 cents:

idiot, this is the most popular board. all the other ones are one or two posts literally a day. no one is leaving here to go anywhere better.

other boards that used to be filled with biz have evaporated the last year or so and not because they have went to other boards, adult internet in it's current form is more or less dead.

for a variety of reasons that's how it is. it's like being on a player piano forum and wondering where everyone went once the jukebox appeared on the scene.

I wasn't joking when I said 80% of my customers here were not regular posts. Many of them found me from Google. The lockdown is silly and has caused a lot of much needed money to vanish.

I'm actually going to have to side with Stocktrader's argument on this one. It's actually a topic I was discussing with another member not long ago. Closing FA&PD to the general public has lost GFY a lot of search traffic, and made it that much harder for someone to get interested in signing up. New sign-ups are low, not because of people's lack of interest in being the next internet porn millionaire, but because they simply aren't finding GFY or can't be hassled to signup.

Agent raises a good point in saying that the industry is basically dead. It is. Long term members are dropping, and new members aren't joining (for the reasons Stocktrader has mentioned). It's sort of like a country having a negative birthrate. So long as the death rate is higher than the birth rate, population decreases. Deaths are bound to happen, so you need to keep the new blood coming. GFY pretty much put a stop order on new births when they closed the board...

I still agree with the rule that one must have an adult-related e-mail address/have verifiable ties to a bona fide adult business to post, but why let the public view all of the other portions of GFY, yet exclude them from the most vital and active area?

Loads of thread are pure spam, not information or naked girl spam but just spam. Like $100 a sign up Thursdays.

New people fall by the wayside a lot quicker.

It's harder to register.

And the lack of moderation has led to a decline of the board.

All those reasons and more.

Many affiliates have left and many more soon will. That's going to have a snowball effect on everything which depended on them in some way - domains, content, forums, programming, etc. This will in turn cause further downward pressure on prices for these things and in turn cause even more to leave the industry. :2 cents:

Sounds like GFY when GFY was cool.

1. let the bots index the board but 'nocache' all pages.
2. open the board but limit the number of pages nonmembers can see (to let's say 3 pages).
3. improve the review procedure for new accounts. (gotta be a lot faster).
4. enforce contest rules. most contest are filed with people who break both the contest rules and the gfy rules regarding contests. they post more than 50 times in contest threads, they post back2back,...

When compared to other boards it is not that slow.

- would increase biz from people that find biz threads through Google.
- would increase signups.
- would prevent clueless surfers from getting too much info.

99% of my GFY time is now spent elsewhere. I only come here to waste time once in a while as a break from other things.

I also have to agree with stocktrader on this one, why not open GFY to everyone? I found this forum by sheer luck and I have fallen in love with GFY...it can be a good place to learn about the industry and find good people to do business with once you sort through all the trolls and idiots here. I really don't see the harm in opening up the forum to everyone though, it can lead to a lot of opportunities for people that sell things here, for webmasters to promote their new websites/blogs, for sponsors to offer their programs to new adult webmasters, for people to gain knowledge about the industry, and well...the list could go on.

i agree open it up to google and new submissions, but it's not like people are going to come flooding in. there are a million ways to make money online now. a million more than a couple years ago even.

yet there are still just as many newbs now as ever who don't know anything about the state of the industry and imagine it's a goldmine. there's no less wannabe porn webmasters now than there were a year ago, or two years before that, or whenever before that.

if the forum was open to everyone, at least they'd have a chance to signup and fail for a couple months before they realize it's a total waste of their time. :1orglaugh
